Lea Salonga apologizes to offended Daniel Padilla fans for her 'The Voice Kids' comment

The Voice Kids coach Lea Salonga was all praises to Team Bamboo's Juan Karlos Labajo after his Upbeat Song performance Saturday night, but she somehow offended some Daniel Padilla fans with her comment.

"I'm actually looking at you as a 13-year-old and see what you’re going to be like five years from now," Lea told the contestant. "'Yong mga DJ na 'yan, wala, sorry, their names will be erased once you get to that age."

DJ is the nickname of Daniel, the most popular teen celebrity in the country.

Some fans of the Teen King reacted negatively to Lea's comment, but the Broadway Diva was quick to apologize.

"Ohhh dear... I offer my deepest apologies to Daniel P and his fans. In building up JK I neglected to think that I might hurt other people," Lea posted on her Twitter account a few hours after making the comment.

She also said that she said it not to disrespect the She's Dating The Gangster lead actor.

"I meant no disrespect, but I humbly ask for forgiveness if that's how it came across. Sana mapatawad po ninyo ako sa aking pagkakamali," she added.

Meanwhile, other fans said they understand that Lea only referred to Daniel as the basis of popularity.
