Aljur Abrenica wants to be discharged from his contract with GMA-7, the television network that built his showbiz career.
According to an Instagram post by entertainment reporter Nelson Canlas, the actor on Thursday formally filed a petition for confirmation of rescission of his current contract with the Kapuso Network. His contract is effective until 2017.
Aljur was last seen in the recently-concluded Kapuso fantasy series, Kambal Sirena. He has also played lead roles in his past series including Machete and Coffee Prince. His career started when he won the fourth season of StarStruck in 2006.
However, Aljur reportedly feels GMA-7's plans are not "aligned" with what he wants to happen in his career.
"Hindi ako nakikipag-away. Tumatanaw ako ng utang na loob. Ayoko sana umabot sa ganito", Aljur was quoted by Nelson Canlas as saying.
Meanwhile, GMA-7 said in a statement that the network has not yet received a copy of the complaint.
