Kang Ji Hwan was in Cebu for a photoshoot for the Korean edition of Sure magazine when a Facebook user named Angel Javier posted pictures of herself beside the sleeping Lie To Me actor who arrived in the country on July 9.
Javier captioned the photos with: "together sleep with Korean actor Mr. Ji Hwan Kang."
The photos immediately became viral in South Korea, prompting the actor's agency to release a statement.
A representative of the agency said that the woman in the pictures was the wife of Kang Ji Hwan's guide in Cebu.
"He went to the Philippines for his photo shoot with magazine 'Sure.' The female inside the photos is his guide's wife," the rep was quoted by Korean media on Friday. "The photos were taken on the evening of July 10 and it was uploaded this morning. Kang Ji Hwan's really close with the guide and became close with his wife. She just posted it up for fun. She feels very sorry about what happened and said she'll update her status on Facebook in regards to this situation."
Javier eventually posted an apology through her Facebook status.
"..very sorry only edited pictures hope you can forgive me. because his my idol sorry again," Javier wrote.
Kang Ji Hwan's agency originally announced that he would be returning to Korea on July 13. However, the actor was seen in the morning of July 12 quietly leaving Incheon Airport after getting the earliest flight back from Cebu.
