According to ABS-CBN News' Dyan Castillejo, Johan recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from the De La Salle University with a double major in Economics and Applied Corporate Management.

He also brought honors to DLSU for being a champion swimmer. He is a Philippine Record Holder in 50-Meter Backstroke, a 3-time University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Most Valuable Player (Seasons 72, 73 and 74), and UAAP Season 74 Athlete of the Year.

The 21-year-old was able to excel both in sports and academics by valuing the advice of his mother who tells him to strive hard in his studies as much as he does in sports. He also wanted to prove wrong the stereotype that athletes don't do well in school.

He considers swimming as his first love. He was only eleven when he won a silver medal in the South East Asian Age Group. He is also a Palarong Pambansa Most Outstanding Swimmer in 2009.

Now training six hours a day, his goal is  to qualify for the Asian Games in September.
