Taylor Kitsch needs to issue public apology to The Philippines

Hollywood actor Taylor Kitsch was a recent guest of the Late Show with David Letterman where he talked about his bad experience with an airport in the Philippines.

Taylor, who stars in the upcoming movie John Carter, said he was stopped by customs at the airport when his passport had no space left for a stamp.

He was told that he would be sent back to Japan, where he flew in from, via the next available flight. By then he told the customs official that he’s an actor and in fact had a work visa to shoot the movie Savages in the country. He also showed him the John Carter trailer through his iPhone. The agent didn’t believe it was Taylor in the video but liked the trailer enough to allow him to get through.

TV Patrol also reported that the customs official allegedly asked Taylor Kitsch for an iPhone in exchange for his pass.

The news made everyone who cares about Philippine tourism blame the customs for the disgrace. Investigation for the identity of the involved customs official has even already started.

Recent news, however, said that Taylor Kitsch didn’t go to the Philippines at all. It was in Indonesia where he filmed Savages and it was also there where the customs incident happened.

That’s exactly the reason why we never heard of Taylor being in the country or any Savages actor filming the movie here.

I wonder, though, how they would correct all that has been said against the Philippines. We know the Philippines’ image is already tarnished enough due to corruption, but the incident narrated by a famous Hollywood celebrity has added a more sensationalized negativity to our beloved nation.

Should we get back at Taylor Kitsch for his poor memory that was actually the cause of all this? Should we boycott his movies especially John Carter which is coming soon?
