Taylor Kitsch should apologize, says Palace

Presidential spokesman Edwin Lacierda said Hollywood actor Taylor Kitsch should apologize for putting the Philippines in bad light.

"We believe that Taylor Kitsch made an erroneous statement which demeaned our country and an apology would be a proper decent response," he said in a text message to ABS-CBN News.

The John Carter star, during his interview in Late Show with David Letterman, said he was stopped by customs at a Philippine airport when his passport had no space left for a stamp. He would be sent back to Japan, where he flew in from, via the next available flight. He told the official that he had a work visa to film the Oliver Stone-directed Savages in the country but the official allegedly did not believe that he’s an actor.

According to the actor, only the trailer of John Carter saved him from not being flown back to Japan. He allegedly showed the official the John Carter trailer through his iPhone, and though the official still didn’t believe he’s an actor, he liked the trailer enough to allow him to get through.

The immigration has already done investigations about the said incident to punish the responsible official Taylor Kitsch was talking about. The actor’s name, however, didn’t turn up in any of their records meaning he hasn’t been in the country.

It was later found out that the movie Savages was filmed in Moyo Island which is in Indonesia’s West Nusa Tenggara province.

Definitely not in the Philippines.
