Zanjoe Marudo, not afraid of being typecat in gay roles

Actor Zanjoe Marudo, who stars in Star Cinema’s upcoming horror flick “Maria Leonora Teresa,” shares in “Tapatan Ni Tunying” airing this Thursday (September 11) that he is not afraid of being typecast in gay roles as he plays another challenging role in the said movie.

Zanjoe insists he worries more about losing opportunities than playing offbeat characters. “I am more scared of not having projects,” he says.

He previously portrayed gay roles in “Bromance: My Brother’s Romance” and “24/7 in Love.” In “Maria Leonora Teresa,” Zanjoe plays the role of a gay dad, who loses his child in an accident and is then haunted by a doll he is given to help him cope with his loss.

“It feels good to be able to show to the audience that I can play either a straight or gay man. I can portray both,” shares Zanjoe.

Panfilo Lacson

Meanwhile, in a separate interview, former senator Panfilo Lacson opens up about his role as Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery and shares the challenges in unifying the efforts of the government and other agencies in helping the Typhoon Yolanda victims.

Many have observed that his position as rehabilitation czar may boost his image if he decides to run again for senator. Will Lacson run for any post in the 2016 national elections?

“I am not thinking about it yet,” he answers.
