Roxanne Cabañero backs out of Miss World Philippines 2014

Roxanne Cabañero was among the official candidates of Miss World Philippines 2014, until she backed out of the competition with a handwritten letter to the organizers.

Roxanne became controversial when she accused Vhong Navarro of raping her back in 2010. She came out with the complaint at the height of the comedian-TV host's mauling incident that also involved accusations of rape from Deniece Cornejo.

Meanwhile, Roxanne received negative comments from the netizens when she was named as one of the MWP 2014 contestants. Soon after, she backed out of the beauty contest.

I would like to thank you for your genuine support and for really fighting and giving me a chance to be a part of Miss World Philippines 2014.

I admire your generosity for giving me a chance to live the dream I have of becoming a beauty queen.

But unfortunately, I have to withdraw from the contest.

I am heartbroken over my decision to withdraw but this is the best way to stop the chaos and protect the name of Miss World Philippines... The whole two-day experience being a part of [the pageant] was a blessing and forever will live in my heart.

Thank you for making me feel so comfortable throughout the screening to final screening. It was a family worth [keeping].

Thank you for being so understanding and for supporting me all throughout. God bless us all.

Good luck to all the beautiful ladies joining and I'm proud of all of them.

Miss World Philippines will crown its 2014 representative to the international pageant on October 12 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena.
