Judy Ann Santos stars in 'Tiyanak' remake

Judy Ann Santos stars in the remake of "Tiyanak," a 1988 horror movie produced by Regal Films.

Directors of the original movie - Peque Gallaga and Lore Reyes - also direct the new one which will be shown just before Halloween.

"It's almost the same story, may mga ilang binago lang pero syempre mas modernized na 'yung kwento, mas modernized na 'yung characters," Judy Ann told ABS-CBN News about the remake.

Janice de Belen starred in the 80s version and the catchphrase "Anak ni Janice" came from its trailer. With the remake, however, I think "Anak ni Juday" will be the new trend.

Meanwhile, a lead role in the currently showing horror movie "Maria Leonora Teresa" was reportedly first offered to Juday. With her refusal to accept the project, rumors started to spread saying it ruined her friendship with the Star Cinema movie's director Wenn Deramas.

The actress, however, denied the issue just like what the box-office director did earlier.

"Nakakalungkot na hindi ko sya nagawa pero, you know, things happen for a reason," she said regarding "Maria Leonora Teresa" which is now doing well in the box office.

Aside from "Tiyanak," she is also busy with the premiere of "Bet On Your Baby's" second season. The kiddie game show comes back on air starting this Monday, September 22, on ABS-CBN.
