Typhoon QUIEL Intensifies, Signal #3 Hoisted Over Cagayan and Isabela

Storm signal number 3 has been hoisted over Cagayan and Isabela as Typhoon QUIEL intensifies.

At 4:00 p.m. today, Typhoon QUIEL was located based on satellite and surface data at 490 km East of Tuguegarao City (17.9°N 126.9°E). It has maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph. It is forecast to move West at 26 kph.

By Saturday afternoon, it is forecast to be 40 kms east of Laoag City or 90 kms northwest of Tuguegarao City.

Meanwhile, storm signal number 2 has been raised in Northern Aurora, Quirino, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Kalinga, Apayao, Calayan Group of Islands and Babuyan Group of Islands.

Storm signal number 1 is in the areas of Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, Benguet, La Union, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra and the rest of Aurora.
