The Miss Universe 2011 Pageant Night has kicked off. Instead of the usual parade of nations, the 89 contestants introduced themselves wearing identical gowns.
Miss Philippines Shamcey Supsup was the 15th to be called, 2nd to the last since there are a total of 16 semi-finalists this year due to the online voting system. The last to be called is Miss Venezuela.

Miss Panama wins the Best in National Costume:

Shamcey ranked 2nd with the score of 7.0 based on fan votes through nbc.com/uscore. Miss Venezuela ranked 1st with 9.1.
Miss Photogenic (Sweden) and Miss Congeniality (Montenegro) were again cited. They were chosen during the Preliminary Competition.
Despite the fact that Miss Venezuela ranked first on the fan votes, she wasn't called in the Top 10.

The Top 10 get to "endorse" a tourist spot in Brazil. Shamcey chooses Monte Verde:
The Top 10 evening gown competition. Shamcey wore the same gown as she wore during the preliminaries. She looked so elegant and walked like a catwalk queen. She again ranked 2nd in the fan voting hosted by nbc.com/uscore. This time, Miss Angola topped the fan ranking with 7.2.

Shamcey Supsup was the only candidate in the Top 5 who didn't use an interpreter. She randomly picked Hollywood actress Vivica A. Fox to ask her a question during the Question and Answer portion of the Top 5.
Vivica A. Fox: "Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person that you love? Why or why not?"
Shamcey Supsup: "If I would have to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love. Because the first person that I love is God, who created me. I have my faith and my principles, and this is what makes me who I am. If the person loves me, he’ll love my God, too."

Miss Universe 2010 Mexico's Ximena Navarrete did her final walk. Her gown is somewhat similar to what Shamcey was wearing:
