Gwendolyn Ruais, 21, of Muntinlupa City was crowned as the first-ever Miss World Philippines in last night's pageant held at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).
Miss World 2010 Alexandra Mills herself crowned the Gwendolyn Ruais in the pageant that was telecast live on GMA-7. The 5'11" half-French, half-Filipino beauty will be the Philippines' representative to the Miss World 2011 pageant to be held in London this coming November.
The runners-up of the beauty pageant were Nicolette Henson (1st Princess); Martha Chloe McCulley (2nd Princess); Ma. Paula Bianca Paz (3rd Princess); and Jaysel Arrozal (4th Princess).
Special awards were also given. The Best in Swimsuit award went to the winner, Gwendolyn Ruais while 3rd Princess Ma. Paula Bianca Paz won the Best in Evening Gown award.
