A magnitude-6.9 earthquake shook the northeastern coast of Japan on March 14, 2012.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was recorded at exactly 6:08 PM local time. The epicenter was traced 235 km (146 miles) south of Kushiro, Hokkaido, Japan.
Tsunami alert has been issued urging people to evacuate. The public has been warned of a wave as high as 50 centimeters (20 inches).
The earthquake hit the country three days after the first anniversary of the magnitude-8.9 quake that shook Japan last year and caused the 13-foot tsunami that swept buildings, cars, boats and lots of debris inland.
Let’s all pray that the same fate would not happen to Japan, or anywhere else in the world, every again.
