Julia Barretto snubs dad Dennis Padilla at Christmas party

Dennis Padilla revealed that he was snubbed by daughter Julia Barretto during the Dreamscape Christmas party held last month.

In an interview with pep.ph, Dennis said that he attended the party as he was part of ABS-CBN's "Ikaw Lamang" which was produced by Dreamscape, the drama unit that also produced "Mirabella," the launching series of Julia.

“Actually, December 14, dun sa Christmas party ng Dreamscape ni Deo, siyempre part ako ng Ikaw Lamang, 'tapos in-invite ako na pumunta dun sa Christmas party. At the same time, nag-text din sa akin si Coco [Martin, lead actor ng Ikaw Lamang]. Ang sabi niya, 'Kuya, punta ka dun, ha, sa Christmas party ng Dreamscape.' 'O, sige, punta ako.’ “E, nung pumunta ako dun, at the same time kasama rin ang MiraBella dun, kasi Dreamscape din yun, 'di ba? Ngayon, nakakasama lang ng loob, kasi Julia was only two tables away. And alam naman niya na nandun ako, ‘di niya ako binati... sakit. Masakit ‘pag in person,” the actor said regarding the incident, as quoted by the entertainment website.

As to the cause of Julia's cold treatment, Dennis said it could be her request to drop Baldivia (Dennis's real surname) from her name.

In July 2014, news came out that the teen actress has made legal actions to drop her dad's surname on the basis of being an illegitimate child. Dennis fought for his right as the father, denying that Julia is illegitimate.

“Julia, kung anuman yung dahilan kung hindi mo ako binati, naunawaan ko. Kasi siguro nagagalit kayo sa akin dahil ipinaglalaban ko yung apelyido ko, na gusto niyo namang ipatanggal. Sa ngayon, hindi niyo pa siguro lubos na mauunawaan. Siguro ‘pag dumating yung ilang taon pa na mag-mature kayo, saka niyo lang maunawaan kung bakit ipinaglalaban ng isang tatay yung apelyido niya. And gusto kong malaman mo na hindi totoo yung sinasabi nila na illegitimate ka, lahat kayo legitimate, alam ng Panginoon yun. And lahat ng pangyayari, siguro naman may pupuntahan. Basta ako, ang wish ko lang sa inyong lahat, lalo na sa iyo Julia, ay more success. And gusto ko na lalo ka pang yumaman at maging malusog. Yun lang. Siyempre bilang ama, bilang magulang, yun lang naman ang wini-wish natin sa ating mga anak," he said.
