AlDub, among Philippines' top 10 searches for 2015

Yahoo Philippines has released the top 10 searches for 2015 in the country, and while majority of the top 10 are about headline-worthy current events, some from the entertainment scene also made it to the list, just like the phenomenal AlDub tandem of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.

AlDub was the fourth most-search in 2015, according to Yahoo PH. Alden and Maine aka Yaya Dub "have become the sweethearts of the country and a social media phenomenon" that they even set a Twitter record with 25.6 million tweets with the hashtag #ALDubEBforLOVE last September.

The Mamasapano clash, meanwhile, was on top of the list. The police operation that killed 44 members of the Special Action Force (SAF) "led to a public outcry and eventually caused Congress to halt the passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law."

Pope Francis' first visit to the Philippines made it to the second spot. Even non-Roman Catholics joined the crowd in the streets of Manila along the pontiff's route just to see a glimpse of him.

Manny Pacquiao was on the fourth spot. The "Fight of the Century" was such a disappointment to many boxing fans as Floyd Mayweather "doged, feinted and shuffled his way to a victory by unanimous decision."

The Philippines' top 10 searches also include 2016 elections on the third spot, and APEC summit, West Philippine Sea, Laglag Bala NAIA, Jamich, and Mary Jane Veloso on the sixth to tenth spots respectively.
