The photo of the textbook page entitled racial harmony that stereotypes different nationalities appeared on hongwrong.com and is now making its rounds online.
"I am British. I am an English teacher."
"I am Filipino. I am a domestic helper in Hong Kong."
"I am Japanese. I have a sushi restaurant in Hong Kong."
"I am Chinese. Shanghai is my hometown."
"I am Indian. I study in an international school."
It is such a sad news that such racism is being taught to young kids.
There's nothing wrong to being a domestic helper, but stereotyping Pinoys as DH in Hong Kong is pure racism.
After all, Filipinos are not just in Hong Kong, we are all over the world, and not just as domestic helpers. We are also teachers, we also study in international schools, we also own restaurants, we are executives, we are actors, and we excel.
