Sandino Martin stars in the 2014 Cinema One Originals entry "Esprit de Corps," the digital film adaptation of the original play by Auraeus Solito.
Directed by Kanakan-Balintagos, "Esprit de Corps" is a "corruption-seduction drama set in a Christian school for boys a year before Marcos fell from power."
Synopsis:
It was the last three weeks of Military training when it was compulsory during the Marcos Dictatorship. The cadets must pass through Hell week: grueling physical tests, war games, and a final test at the dreaded Interrogations Room!
Many are aspiring for the position of Major Mac Favila. He is every cadets ideal officer- sharp, snappy, witty and most of all the most macho among the school's officers. Privates Abel Sarmiento and Cain Fujioka are the top contenders for his position.
Will they do anything to get his position?
Or will they end the cycle of corruption?
Joining Sandino in the cast are JC Santos, Lharby Policarpio, Garry Lim, Abner Delina Jr, and VJ Mendoza.
"Esprit de Corps" is one of the 10 full-length digital movie entries at the 2014 Cinema One Originals with the theme "Intense." The other 9 entries are "Red" by Jay Abello, “Di Sila Tatanda” by Malay Javier, “Seoul Mates” by Nash Ang, “Violator” by Eduardo Dayao, “Soap Opera” by Remton Slega Zuasola, “Lorna” by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, “Bitukang Manok” by Alec Figuracion, “That Thing Called Tadhana” by Antoinette Jadaone, and “The Babysitters” by Paolo O’Hara.
The film festival also features innovative short films, restored Pinoy classics, and new works by globally renowned masters. It runs November 9 to 18 at Glorietta 4, Trinoma, Fairview Terraces, and Greenhills Dolby Atmos.
