Richard Yap recently signed an exclusive two-year contract with ABS-CBN.
Above photo shows Richard with ABS-CBN Channel Head Cory Vidanes during the contract signing. A two-year contract is really not bad for a 45-year-old actor that started out on television just last year as the Chinese father of Kim Chiu’s character in My Binondo Girl.
His good looks actually paved the way for recognition, much as the quiet charm that he exudes in portraying his characters.
Richard is currently seen weekday mornings via Be Careful With My Heart opposite Jodi Sta. Maria. Their tandem has is such a hit that the series is now the most-watched weekday television program.
The Chowking commercial model, however, said that he doesn’t consider himself a heartthrob, not even as an extraordinary good looking guy. “The standards of being handsome before was mestizo and Chinese-looking men were never in demand,” he explained during the contract signing.
As with regards to his working relationship with Jodi who plays the nanny Maya opposite his widower Sir Chief, he said that she’s very down-to-earth and easy to get along with. They also have things in common like their passion for videoke, how they like to kid around a lot, and they even both went to pre-med school.
