Jake Vargas’ siblings arrested for alleged drug use, police asked money in exchange for freedom

Jake Vargas’ siblings Joseph and Odessa were recently arrested by members of the Olongapo Police for using illegal drugs, but it eventually came out that they only wanted money from the young actor’s family.

The police allegedly intruded the Vargas home in New Cabalan, pointed a gun and handcuffed Joseph and Odessa. There was no warrant, even no evidence found during the arrest.

The two were taken to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Headquarters’ Intelligence Office in Camp Cabal and were allegedly asked for P200,000 for their freedom.

Jake produced the amount the following day and their father, Miguel Vargas, allegedly personally handed the money to the police.

Eighteen days later, the family decided to file a formal complaint at the National Prosecutor’s Office against PO1 Eleazar Jimenez and PO3 Alexander Quinet.

Joseph claimed it was a setup, and they opted to file at the National Prosecutor’s Office instead of the PNP for fear of suffering the same fate over again.

Since acts like these should not be tolerated, the Olongapo City PNP also plans to press administrative case against the policemen allegedly involved.
