Princess Protection Program premiered last Friday, June 26th, on Disney Channel and an estimate of 8.5 million viewers watched the show, making it the third most watched premiere among Disney Channel Original Movies. Camp Rock was watched by 8.9 million viewers on its premiere High School Musical 2's 18 million premiere viewership is still unbeatable.
Princess Protection Program stars Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez. The story revolves around the friendship of Princess Rosalinda (Lovato) and Carter (Gomez) while the princess is under the Princess Protection Program and is taken under the wing of Joe Mason (Tom Verica), an agent in the PPP and Carter's father. Carter teaches the princess how to be a normal American girl, while the princess teaches Carter to find her inner princess.
The film is directed by Allison Liddi-Brown and written by Annie DeYoung.
