Miss Shreveport Katherine Putnam was crowned Miss Louisiana 2009. She will compete in Las Vegas January 30 for the Miss America Pageant.
Miss University of Louisiana at Monroe Hope Anderson was first runner-up. She also won the swimsuit preliminary last Friday.
The runner-up's position is very important for she will take the place of the title-holder in case the former won't be able to finish her reign, just like in Miss California and Miss Puerto Rico Petite.
Miss Lafayette Kenley Minchew who won the talent preliminary was 2nd runner-up. Miss Natchitoches City of Lights Courtney Haynes won third runner-up, and Miss Port City Joy Tomason was fourth runner-up.
The winners were chosen from 29 contestants which was first narrowed down to ten, then the final five.
Katherine Putnam attends the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a major in piano performance.
