'The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin' now has the highest opening day gross for any Filipino film

The 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) opened on Thursday, December 25th, and Wenn Deramas' "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin" was among the most-watched entries during the festival's first day.

Seen going to the movies to watch the comedy flick were Kris Aquino, son Bimby Aquino Yap and President Noynoy Aquino. They were there to support Bimby who is one of the stars of the movie together with Vice Ganda.

Bimby's dad and Kris' former husband, James Yap, also watched the movie together with his Italian girlfriend, Michela Cazzola.

In a "Bandila" report on Christmas Day, it was revealed that MMFF earned P147-million on its first day, 15% higher than what it made last year (P128-M).

Together with "Praybeyt Benjamin" in the Top 3 first day grossers are "My Big Bossing's Adventures" starring Vic Sotto and Ryzza Mae Dizon, and "Feng Shui 2" starring Kris and Coco Martin.

Meanwhile, in recent reports, it has been revealed that "The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin" made a record for hitting the biggest first-day gross for any Filipino movie with P53.3-M.

"Feng Shui 2," on the other hand, now holds the distinction of having the biggest first-day gross for any Filipino horror movie with P31.4-M.
