Tacloban will forever exist as two cities – what was before Yolanda and what it is now.
It’s been a year since the city was ravaged by the strongest tropical cyclone ever to hit land. Back then, many survivors said they only wanted to forget the day they lost everything. Today, the same survivors say, it would be a sin to forget because those who died have to be remembered and the stories of the loved ones they left behind have to be heard.
Catch a documentary that tells these stories but doesn’t dwell on the drama tomorrow (November 8), 11:30 AM on ANC, the ABS-CBN News Channel.
Written by Jeff Canoy and produced by the ANC News team, “The New Tacloban – A Post-Yolanda Documentary” follows the struggles of Alexander, Cesar, and Elena – of how they lost almost everything except the resolve not to look at themselves as victims. It’s the story of how, together, in their own little way, they’re rebuilding the new Tacloban.
ANC also checks the status of Yolanda survivors, what the private and public sectors are doing to help them, and the progress of recovery and rehabilitation efforts in typhoon-ravaged areas in a special forum called “ANC Presents: Yolanda,” anchored by veteran journalist Tina Monzon-Palma. Don’t miss its replays tomorrow (Nov 8) at 3 AM and on Sunday (Nov 9) at 5:30 PM.
