Esperanza Spalding Wins 53rd Grammy's Best New Artist Award

Esperanza Spalding wins the 53rd Grammy Awards Best New Artist beating the Canadian YouTube star cum international singing sensation Justin Bieber.

Esperanza Spalding is a multi-instrumentalist best known as a jazz bassist and singer (wikipedia). The 26-year-old musician is of African-American, Welsh, and Spanish descent.

She has three albums under her belt – Junjo (2006), Esperanza (2008), and Chamber Music Society (2010) – and has collaborated with artists like Fourplay, Stanley Clarke, Christian Scott, Donald Harrison, Joe Lovano, Nino Josele, Nando Michelin, and Theresa Perez.
