Matt Evans celebrates birthday in jail

Matt Evans is turns 26 today, but sadly, he is celebrating his birthday in jail.

The Kapamilya actor was arrested Saturday night after his live-in partner Johnelline Hickins filed a complaint of physical assault.

Star Magic (the management arm of ABS-CBN that takes care of Matt’s showbiz career) representatives and lawyers immediately went to to the Pasig City detention cell and eventually released a statement that the accusations against Matt were all lies.

According to the complaint, Matt physically assaulted Hickins who has just given birth a month ago. He also allegedly kicked her brother in the face when he came to her rescue.

Matt’s legal counsel Gerly Rico said that the actor denied the allegations and that it was actually him who was hit on the leg and was even threatened with a knife.

Rico said they are just waiting for the legal process to proceed so that the actor will be able to clear his name.

Matt is a product of the first season of Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition. He became a household name when he was cast as Pedro Penduko on ABS-CBN. He will soon be seen in the upcoming Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Paraiso alongside Jessy Mendiola, Matteo Guidicelli and Jewel Mische.
