Boy and Kris to Join Primetime Block

Many have speculated that the morning show hosted by BFFs Boy Abunda and Kris Aquino will come to an end. And yes, we will not see them every morning anymore, but no, they will just be moved to the primetime block. And along with the new time slot, the show will also have a new format.

A new show will take the place of Boy and Kris's morning slot, which will be called Ruffa and Ai. Obviously it will be hosted by Ms. World 1993 Second Princess Ruffa Gutierrez and the new Box Office Queen Ai-Ai de las Alas.

What would happen if you put Ruffa's elegance and Ai-ai's funny antics together? We will soon find out. Boy and Kris's move to primetime and Ruffa and Ai's pilot episode will be on February 16, 2009.

TJ Trinidad Makes the Move

tj trinidad via network54.com
TJ Trinidad/network54

TJ Trinidad is moving to GMA 7 from ABS-CBN. He will be included in the cast of the upcoming Richard Gutierrez-starrer, Zorro, a teleserye based on the popular book and movie of the same title.

TJ says he never was an exclusive talent of ABS-CBN. His contract with the network was on a per project basis, which is also just like his contract now with GMA 7. The hunky actor says he made the move because it had been quite a while since ABS-CBN last gave him a project (Prinsesa ng Banyera).

Despite the move, he says he's still in good terms with the Kapamilya network. He says he even had a meeting with the bosses to tell them about his decision to move. And since he's on a per project contract, he's still willing to go back and work with the Kapamilya.

TJ had been in quite a number of shows with ABS-CBN, appearing in Basta't Kasama Kita, Krystala, Pedro Penduko, Hiram na Mukha and Walang Kapalit. On the other hand, he has also worked with GMA Films in the past, in the Richard Gutierrez-Angel Locsin movie, The Promise

TJ is under the management of Annabelle Rama, also the manager and the mom of Richard Gutierrez.

Ruffa Gutierrez to Write About Turkey Experience

Back in 2003, everyone thought Ruffa Gutierrez was so lucky to marry a Turkish millionaire. The Miss World 1993 Second Princess indeed lived the life of a princess. Four years after the marriage, though, Ruffa went back to Manila and the couple announced that they're separating. In interviews, Ruffa said that physical abuse was one of the reasons why she decided to leave Yilmaz Bektas.

Now Ruffa is planning to write a book about her much talked-about life in Turkey with Yilmaz and their kids. But no gory details of the said physical torture, sorry. She says that there's so much love between Yilmaz and her when they were still together and that's what she's writing about. She's not going to make the ex-husband look bad in the book because, after all, she's also writing it for her two daughters - so she wouldn't have to tell them about it herself (at least physically).

Ruffa currently co-hosts The Buzz every Sunday and is in the cast of I Love Betty La Fea as the merciless Daniela.

Joanna Pacitti Too Big for American Idol?

Joanna Pacitti's American Idol Season 8 audition stirred some buzz among the viewers, specifically those who know her. They say Pacitti is "big enough" to still be accepted as one of the contestants.

It actually also happened during the past season when at least two of the contestants (Carly Smithson, Kristy Lee Cook) had already released albums prior to the audition. Smithson, though, had a flopped music career as her album reportedly only sold more or less 300 copies. Likewise, Cook had only been performing on a cowboy nightclub before she decided to audition.

Pacitti's case is kind of different for she has quite a number of songs featured on movie soundtracks such as Legally Blonde (Watch Me Shine), Bratz (Out From Under), First Daughter, and Nancy Drew. Out From Under was even re-recorded by Britney Spears and was included in her latest album, Circus.

She has a 2006 album, This Crazy Life, and has dated Mark Ballas of Dancing With The Stars.

Here's Joanna Pacitti's American Idol Season 8 audition:

Nicole is reportedly planning on doing a family-focused reality tv show with partner Joel Madden and his twin brother Benji, and dad RnB sensation Lionel Richie.

Luis Manzano as Flash Bomba

Luis Manzano and Roxanne Guinoo are both excited with their upcoming project, Komiks Presents: Flash Bomba. Luis joins the rank of Kapamilya stars who have portrayed superhero roles in the Komiks series as he takes on the role of Flash Bomba.

Leading lady Roxanne Guinoo is very much pleased with working with the young actor. According to her, Luis is a gentleman and is very attentive to her needs. She even says Luis is like action star Robin Padilla for what she has heard of how the latter treats leading ladies.

Flash Bomba is another creation of Mars Ravelo. The superhero appeared in Klasiks Magasin. He is described as a superhero with superhuman strength and large extremities. "Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat" hits Php192M

According to the National Cinema Association of the Philippines, Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat has already earned a record-breaking 192 million pesos, the highest recorded in the film festival for the last decade.

MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando congratulates the team of Ang Tanging Ina N'yong Lahat for making such a good movie. He also congratulates Ai-Ai de las Alas for a very good performance in the film.

Meanwhile, the actress is said to be pitted against Sarah Geronimo for the title of Box Office Queen 2008. Sarah's movie with John Lloyd Cruz, A Very Special Love, also did well in the box office. But Ai-Ai said the fact that Ang Tanging Ina did well is already enough for her. Whatever more she gets is already considered as a bonus. She doesn't want to think that she's taking the title away from Sarah because after all, she considers Sarah as her daughter.

Major Changes in American Idol 8

Aside from the fourth judge, there will be a major change in the eighth season of the number one reality show in the US, American Idol. For one, the contestants would stay in a house rather than a mansion. Much like a musical Big Brother. That way, the audience will come to know more about the contestants' character and not just the way they sing.

It has also been reported that only big named musicians will mentor the contestants this season, and that Kelly Clarkson will appear in the show for two weeks. Goodbye olden day superstars?

Kristine Hermosa Signs Contract with ABS-CBN

Kristine Hermosa remained to be one of the most beautiful in Philippine showbiz despite being absent in the limelight for a while. Her last project was Prinsesa ng Banyera (2007) and was seen guesting in Banana Split and Maala-ala Mo Kaya last year.

There had been rumors of her transfer but her contract signing with ABS-CBN put an end to the talk that she's moving to GMA 7.

Two soap operas and a movie is lined-up for the beautiful actress, included in which is a project with former love team Jericho Rosales.

When asked regarding her ex-husband, she confessed that she knew Diether Ocampo's current girlfriend but said she didn't want to talk about it anymore.

Spider-Man 4

A new Spider-Man movie will begin shooting in 2010 and is rumored to be targeting a May 2011 release.

Sam Raimi, Kirsten Dunst and Tobey Mcguire are expected to return but still have to formally commit.

The Spider-Man movies, though, seem to be taking longer to come out as per movie. It was in 2002 when Spider-Man first came out. Two years later, Spider-Man 2 came out. Adding another year to the 2-year gap, Spider-Man 3 was released in 2007. And now they're looking towards a 2011 release, which makes the gap 4 years.

But then we all loved those 3 previous Spidy movies. And if it's taking them 4 years to come up with the next one, I'm sure it must really be something to look forward to.

Although in an an e-mail to Ain’t It Cool News, Hugh Jackman who plays Wolverine stated that they have to wait this late to shoot some scenes due to weather conditions and some of the cast’s schedules.

Whatever the reasons for the late shoots are, I’m just sure it’s gonna be a great movie judging by this trailer:

Jericho Rosales to Join “I Love Betty La Fea”

image

Jericho Rosales will join the cast of I Love Betty La Fea. He will play the character of Aldo, a surfer and musician.

Echo says he is a fan of the show that’s why he is both excited and thrilled to join John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo in the hit television series.

The actor says he is trying to get buffed so the role of a surfer would best fit him. Playing the role also gives him an opportunity to do something light, way different from the heavy drama roles he is used to do.

Jericho is happy that he has a project to begin his 2009 with, and he considers it a big blessing. He just hopes Bea and John Lloyd’s fans will welcome his presence in the series.

The diminutive singer who Oprah dubbed as “the most talented girl” will sing two songs chosen by Obama’s staff – One Moment in Time (Whitey Houston) and God Bless America (Kate Smith). It’s quite an honor for her to be singing God Bless America for it is considered as an unofficial national anthem of the US.

Charice will fly to the US today to attend the pre-inauguration on the 18th. She’s just not sure if she will be invited to the actual inauguration which will happen on the 20th.

Katrina Darrell, American Idol 8’s Bikini Girl

Katrina Darrell stirred quite a reaction from the judges and the viewers of the new season of American Idol. For one, she went to the audition in a bikini because, as she said in the interview, it would set her apart from the crowd.

She sang Mariah Carey’s Vision of Love but new judge Kara DioGuardi didn’t like it. Kara sang a few lines of the song to show the Bikini Girl how it should be done. Surprisingly, the almost naked girl said that the judge’s rendition “was not any better.”

Simon Cowell said “yes.” Randy Jackson, seeing a lot of potential on the Bikini Girl, also said yes. Obviously Kara DioGuardi would say no. And that left the final judgment to Paula Abdul, who surprisingly said yes, sending the girl to Hollywood.

But when Simon asked Paula if she liked it, Paula said, “It’s terrible.”

Jon Avila and Rufa Mae Quinto are "Getting to Know Each Other"

Willing not to be single this year, Jon Avila confesses that he and actress Rufa Mae Quinto are now on the getting-to-know-each-other stage. They first met on the set of their first movie together, Viva Film's upcoming "Status: Single."

Jon also says that he is flattered whenever Rufa Mae openly talks to the media about their relationship. He even thanks the comedienne for her friendship and says he is glad that Rufa Mae is with him at the start of 2009.

After "Kapitan Boom," we only saw Jon on television via the Sunday variety show "ASAP." But be sad no more Kapitan Boom fans, because the superhero is making a comeback through the upcoming television show "Sanlakas" which will also feature other "Komiks" characters like Lastikman, Tiny Tony, and Varga.

Asia Agcaoili Admits Pregnancy

Asia Agcaoili has confirmed the reports that she is indeed pregnant. Her Dutch boyfriend, she says, is the father of her child.

She has been planning on starting a family this year, so she has no regrets on finding out she is pregnant. And it's just as well that she didn't become pregnant earlier when her contract with Premiere condoms was still ongoing. But now that it has expired, she can very well start a family already.

Asia writes for FHM and her column, Asia's Sex Confidential, is republished online.

Garrett Hedlund to Star in 'Tron' Sequel

Garrett Hedlund is set to star in the sequel of the 1982 cult classic film Tron. Disney chose Hedlund over other potential lead stars like Ryan Gosling, Chris Pine, and Michael Stahl-David.

Garrett Hedlund made his film debut in 2004's Troy and has also played supporting roles in movies like Friday Night Lights, Four Brothers, Eragon, and Georgia Rule.

Hedlund will play the lead in this $150 million sequel being directed by Joseph Kosinski. He will retrace the steps of Kevin Flynn (a character from the 1982 film) which will be played by Jeff Bridges.

Olivia Wilde (Skin, Turistas, The O.C.) and Beau Garrett (Turistas) are also in the cast.

Sean Bailey produces along with Steven Lisberger (director of the original film), and Jeff Silver.

Kyla Thanks Her Kapamilya

Kyla celebrated her birthday last Sunday in SOP. She was joined by Bituin Escalante, Roselle Nava, Jolina Magdangal, Regine Velasquez and Jaya in a production number where the celebrant also sang her own composition.

It was funny, though, that during the interview towards the end of the segment, Kyla thanked her "mga kapamilya" (5:51 into the above video) which gathered collective reactions from the hosts present on stage. But then Kyla explained that by "kapamilya" she meant her "brothers and sisters" in SOP. And as Jaya blurted in a defensive reaction: "It's just a word... We're all family here!"

But then, hasn't Kyla been rumored to transfer in the rival network? Talks about it spread out even before Karylle made the shift.

PEP's 20 Sexiest Celebs of 2008

Cristine Reyes, Dingdong Dantes/via PEP

PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) recently did a survey on who the sexiest male and female celebrities of 2008 were. The survey was conducted among "lifestyle magazine editors, writers, and showbiz insiders."

Here are the results:

Sexiest Ladies
10. Luningning
9. Bianca King
8. Daiana Menezes
7. Anne Curtis
6. Michelle Madrigal
5. Marian Rivera
4. Ehra Madrigal
3. Katrina Halili
2. Angel Locsin
1. Cristine Reyes

Sexiest Hunks
10. Will Devaughn
9. Jon Avila
8. Robin Padilla
7. Kiko Rustia
6. JC Tiuseco
5. Paolo Contis
4. JC de Vera
3. Sam Milby
2. Piolo Pascual
1. Dingdong Dantes

It's interesting to know that Richard Gutierrez wasn't included in the list. Would his mom react violently on this, just like she did when Richard didn't get the loudest applause during the recent Blackout Denim and Underwear Show?

On the other hand, two hunks from Survivor Philippines made it to the list. Kiko and JC were really well-liked due to their "good guy" image and hunky appeal.

Dingdong deserved his spot very well, after receiving the loudest applause during the Blackout and landing third place on E! channel's 25 Sexiest Men of the World.

Note that six hunks and six ladies from the Kapuso network made it to the top ten of their respective categories, while the remaining four slots belonged to the Kapamilya stars.

Hansen Nichols Faints

Found this on YouTube a while ago. This happened before Hansen Nichols joined PDA 2. He used to be part of SOP's Take 5, an all-male sing-and-dance group.

Imagine how hard it could have been to rescue him - the stage was in the middle of a pool so the staff who could see him sprawled there would still have to go around the pool area to reach the backstage and eventually the stage; or, the people might have noticed it and shouted/reacted, but could not be easily heard due to the loud speakers. One thing is certain, though: PDA 2's Cancer Survivor is so frail.

Or it could've been a gimmick.

Starstruck 5, Elite Explosion

The original artista search, who was responsible for the discovery of such talents as Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado, is making a comeback this year. After a two-year hiatus, Starstruck will resume on searching for new talents.

Jolina Magdangal and Raymond Gutierrez will still be hosting the show but Dingdong Dantes, due to busy schedules, will be replaced by the lively and articulate Drew Arellano. Iza Calzado will also be a fresh addition to the old council consisting of Joey de Leon and Ida Henares. Mike Tuviera directs the show.

The Final 14 Finalists will automatically receive 5,000 pesos with each week of stay in the competition until contestants are narrowed down to 5. From the remaining 5, the Elite Loveteam and the Elite Survivor will be chosen. The Elite Loveteam will each receive a 2 million peso contract with GMA and 1 million pesos in cash. On the other hand, the Elite Survivor gets a 3 million peso contract with the network plus 2 million pesos in cash.

The Elite Survivor will also sign with Regal Films for a 3-movie contract while the Elite Loveteam gets to join other Starstruck graduates in a movie also with Regal Films. In addition to that, the three gets a franchise of Pinoy Waffle and an endorsement contract with Bench.
