Even if Tara was the first one to hug Justine when she was joined the merge, the Queen of Snake Island felt the tension in the eyes of the other castaways. She knew something was wrong.
Echo even commented on it by saying Tara was so “plastic” when the latter hugged Justine.
The first individual Immunity Challenge tested the skill, strength, and alertness of the castaways. First, they had to make a fire using a flint while their wrists were chained. After successfully making fire, they had to make it big using the provided materials so that the fire would reach the cord where the keys to the cuffs were tied. After the keys fell, they could unlock the cuffs and go to the designated mat. Only the first six to reach the mat would move forward in the challenge. Only Shaun, Amanda, Mika, Justine, Jef, and Marvin were able to move on to the next stage which was to search for pouches buried under the mud. There were only three pouches and the first one was found by Jef. Shaun immediately found the next one right after and Justine had the last one but only after quite a while.
Those who found the pouches would have to go to their designated canoe which was determined by the color of the pouches they got. Once there, they had to assemble a paddle before pushing the canoe to the water and paddling their way to the last part of the challenge. Jef was already paddling when Shaun was able to assemble his paddle. But Shaun immediately found his rhythm and overtook Jef’s lead. Shaun reached the platform first making him the first castaway this season to win the Immunity Necklace in the individual Immunity Challenge.
Jef was disappointed for not being able to finish the race but is nonetheless proud of herself for finishing second. Behind her was Justine who was still assembling her paddle when Shaun won.
