Isabel Granada passed away Saturday night in Qatar at the age of 41.
Her former husband, Jericho Genasky Aguas, confirmed the sad news in an interview with ABS-CBN News early Sunday morning.
According to Jericho, Isabel died between 6:30 p.m and 6:45 p.m. Doha time. It was after she was declared brain dead by the doctors at Hamad General Hospital on October 27.
The actress was confined in Doha for more than a week after she collapsed at an event she got invited to in the same city last October 25. Reports said it was brain hemorrhage indicating aneurysm that caused the collapse.
Isabel is survived by her current husband, Arnel Cowley, and Hubert, her 14-year-old son with Jericho.
Jericho flew to Qatar to support Isabel and their son, as well as the actress' mother, known to many as Mama Gwapa.
Isabel shot to fame in the 1980s through the teen-oriented variety show, That's Entertainment. She was seen in movies like Bakit Madalas ang Tibok ng Puso (1986) opposite Aga Muhlach and Janice De Belen; Shake Rattle and Roll 2 (1990); and Ligaya ang Itawag Mo sa Akin (1997).
