Members of last night's weakest group (composed of Henz Villaraiz, Markus Paterson and Niel Murillo) performed individually during the Sunday episode of Pinoy Boyband Superstar to prove that they are worthy to remain in the competition.
The boyband member wannabe that will be eliminated will come from weakest group. One lucky contestant will be saved by the judges, one will be saved by the votes, and the other one will be eliminated.
Henz Villaraiz performed Liwanag Sa Dilim to get the judges' favor or the public votes.
He seemed to have impressed the judges. All four of them (Vice Ganda, Sandara Park, Yeng Constantino and Aga Muhlach) all praised him for his performance. Vice even said that he would definitely be sad if Henz got eliminated.
Second to perform was Niel Murillo who chose to sing Westlife's I Lay My Love On You. It showcased how good he sings but Vice he didn't look like a member of a boyband.
Markus Paterson was the last to perform, choosing Sam Smith's Stay With Me to impress the judges and the viewers. He showed some control and vocal quality in his heartfelt performance that he dedicated to his dad. Vice said he both had the charm of Henz and the good singing voice of Niel.
The voting lines were opened after all the performances. Fans could vote via SMS and via Google. Voting ran until after the special performance of the Boyband of the Week (composed of Ford Valencia, James Ryan Cesena and Joao Constancia). The winning group covered One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful to the "kilig" of the female audience.
And then it was time for the result of the public votes.
Getting a combined text and Google votes percentage of 56.09%, the one saved by the public was Niel Murillo!
After a commercial gap, the judges voted between Henz and Markus:
Sandara - Henz
Yeng - Henz
Vice - Markus
Aga - Henz
So Henz got 3 votes and Markus, 1. It only meant that Henz stayed and Markus got eliminated.
As Yeng told Markus after his performance, though, she was sure he would have a singing career given the right opportunity. And when he was announced as the eliminated contestant, the Pop-rock Superstar said she would surely buy his album when he makes one.
But had there been a tie in the judges' votes, the result would be based on the votes from text and Google. Here's the tally:
Niel - 56.09%
Markus - 29.86%
Henz - 14.25%
