Alden Richards and Yaya Dub (Maine Mendoza) are arguably the hottest tandem on Philippine television. But while they say that they haven't met in person yet, a photo of them together back in 2010 has recently come out on social media.
And for the first time on Monday, Alden talked about the photo that shows a pre-showbiz Richard Faulkerson Jr. (his real name) and a younger Maine Mendoza in a little blurry photo taken at the Candy Fair 2010 where he was one of the Candy Cuties.
"Yes, dun ako nagulat!" he told pep.ph at the taping of PEPtalk.
He didn't know Maine at the time, though, as perhaps she was just there to fangirl over the cute boys of Candy magazine's annual event. Or could the photo be edited?
But the "Pambansang Bae" said that (aside from that magazine event which he doesn't remember seeing Maine at) they really haven't met yet.
"Just to clarify things talaga with everyone, hindi scripted 'yung hindi namin pagkikita. Talagang we’ve never met each other. We’re not texting, we’re not calling each other. And 'yung sagutan lang namin sa social media is pakiramdaman lang," he said.
