A magnitude 5.0 earthquake struck 6 km southeast of Batac, Ilocos Norte on Sunday night, July 5, 2015.
According to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), the earthquake was recorded at exactly 8:56 PM.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 40 km.
The earthquake was felt in the following areas:
Intensity IV - Vigan, Santa & Paoay Ilocos Norte
Intensity III - Sarrat, Ilocos Norte; Baguio City
Intensity II - Tuguegarao, Apayao and Abra City
The magnitude 5.0 earthquake was followed 16 minutes later by a magnitude 4.3 quake 2 km northwest of Marcos, Ilocos Norte.
It was recorded at exactly 9:12 PM of July 5.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 22 km.
