"Mana," the family drama produced by the De La Salle-College of St. Benilde, has recently brought honor and pride to the Philippines by winning two major awards at the Madrid International Film Festival held Saturday night in Spain.
Directed by Gabriel Fernandez, the movie brought home the Best Feature Film award as well as the Best Actress award for Cherie Gil.
The movie is quite an important one for Cherie because she and her brother, the late Mark Gil, played siblings who needs to go back home for their ailing mother.
She describe the win as "surreal" because according to her, it has already been a long time since she last accepted an acting award in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, the director said he dedicates the award to all the Filipinos working not just in Europe but all over the world.
