After the recent live shows, the Top 8 of “The Voice of the Philippines” season 2 have been determined, with each of the 4 teams now down to 2 artists each.
The teams of coaches Bamboo Mañalac and Apl.de.ap performed Saturday night, February 14, 2015.
On Team Bamboo, Rence Rapanot got the highest percentage of total votes with 44. 88%. He was automatically saved. Coach Bamboo had to choose between Tanya Diaz and Rita Martinez and he chose the latter to stay in the competition.
Team Apl had Alisah Bonaobra as the highest vote-getter with 47.22% of the total votes for the team. Coach Apl eventually chose Daryl Ong to stay, saying goodbye to Mackie Cao.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Feb. 15, the teams of coaches Sarah Geronimo and Lea Salonga performed.
Team Sarah’s Jason Dy got the highest percentage of public votes with 44.67%. He was automatically saved. Between the remaining two artists, coach Sarah chose Monique Lualhati to advance in the competition. Kokoi Baldo, the reggae singer, was eliminated.
On Team Lea, Timmy Pavino was saved by the public with 50.80% of votes, the highest for the team. Between Nino Alejandro and Leah Patricio, coach Lea chose the female belter from Tondo.
The remaining Top 8 artists will compete in the live semi-finals next weekend. They are Team Bamboo’s Rence and Rita, Team Apl’s Alisah and Daryl, Team Sarah’s Jason and Monique, and Team Lea’s Timmy and Leah.
“The Voice of the Philippines” season 2 airs Saturdays at 8:45 pm and Sundays at 8:30 pm on ABS-CBN.
