TV5's "Bangis" – Poster and Trailer

Television fantasy series with kids as main characters seem to be the trend these days, and TV5 is jumping in on the bandwagon via their upcoming fantaserye titled Bangis.

bangis

Bangis is a TV adaptation of Carlo J. Caparas' komiks novel Matatalim na Pangil sa Gubat which features a giant prehistoric creature that resembles a crocodile. Despite his frightening appearance, the creature actually thinks and feels like a human being.

Child actors BJ Go, Gerald Pesigan, and Junyka Santarin are in this series. BJ plays the adventurous and caring best friend of Bangis, while Gerald is the town's kid bully. Junyka, on the other hand, will play BJ's friend and daughter of the main villain Don Serpente played by Yul Servo.

Bangis also marks Oyo Boy Sotto's return to primetime television. He plays the role of Leon, a famed wild animal hunter who's on a mission to capture the beast that is the fear of the town. Oyo is paired in this series with Danita Paner who plays Maya, an environmentalist. It would be interesting how they would turn the story around to make the two fall in love.

Others in the cast are Felix Roco, Wendy Valdez, Rodjun Cruz, Miriam Quiambao, Katherine Luna, Bayani Agbayani, Marissa Sanchez, CJ Caparas (son of Carlo J. Caparas), Jazz Ocampo, Mavi Lozano, Danny Javier, and Tessie Tomas.

Directed by Topel Lee and Robert Quebral, Bangis will premiere on Monday, July 4, 2011 on TV5's Primetime Panalo, right after Wil Time Bigtime.
