Philippine Azkals vs Sri Lanka June 29 Game Ends in a Draw

It will surely be an exciting game on Sunday, July 3, 2011, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium where the second leg of the Philippines vs Sri Lanka football game will be held as part of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Preliminary Competition in Asia. The first leg of the game, which was held yesterday in Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka, ended in a draw with a score of 1:1.

Sri Lanka goaled first during the game. Chathura Gunarathna scored at the 41st minute, 4 minutes before the second half. Nate Burkey of the Azkals, on the other hand, scored the Philippines' goal 4 minutes into the second half of the game.

Burkey, who only replaced Phil Younghusband before halftime, was eventually replaced by Ian Araneta.

Yesterday's line-up was as follow:

Team Captain: Aly Borromeo
Goalkeeper: Neil Etheridge
Strikers: Phil Younghusband, Angel Aldeguer Guirado, Misagh Bahadoran, Ricardo Bicete
Midfielders: James Younghusband, Emilio "Chieffy" Caligdong, Manuel Ott, Jerry Lucena, Stephan Schrock, Nate Burkey
Defense: Aly Borromeo, Anton del Rosario, Rob Gier, Ray Jonsson, Roel Gener, Jason Sabio

Burkey and Araneta as well as Sabio and Bahadoran, were substitutes.

Let's give the Azkals some support come Sunday. They will definitely be psyched to win once they see/hear the Pinoys cheering for them.
