Ang Panday is showing December 25 along with other entries of MMFF 2017.
Based on the graphic novel created by Carlo J. Caparas and illustrated by Steve Gan, the Panday character was originally portrayed in the movies by Fernando Poe, Jr. The late actor did four sequels of the movie in 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1984, all for MMFF. RPN 9 also aired an animation series based on the first movie in the mid-1980s. Two Panday-based films were released in the 1990s starring Bong Revilla (1993) in one and Jinggoy Estrada (MMFF 1998) in the other. In 2005, ABS-CBN did a TV series based on the popular story starring Jericho Rosales. In 2009, Bong Revilla did a remake of the original story, also for MMFF.
