Blogging Break: Pahiyas Festival 2012

My friend and I headed to Lucban, Quezon yesterday at 3:00 AM for the famous Pahiyas Festival. It is an annual celebration of the Lucbanons in honor of their patron saint, San Isidro Labrador.

They celebrate it by decorating their houses with agricultural products and kiping (leaf-shaped, edible decoration made of rice). Not all houses decorate, though. There’s only a designated Pahiyas route that changes every year. I was told decorating houses that grand could cost a fortune that’s why it’s not advisable for a homeowner to do it every year, thus the annual route change.
