Japan was rocked by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake early morning of Saturday, April 16, 2016.
According to the bulletin posted by United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was recorded at exactly 1:25 am (JST), 1 kilometer (km) west-southwest of Kumamoto.
It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 10 km.
Japan's Meteorogical Agency has already issued a tsunami advisory along the coast east of Kumamoto.
Two days ago, Japan was also hit by a magnitude 6.2 earthquake, with epicenter 7 km southwest of Ueki. It reportedly took away nine lives.
