Jona made her first guesting on ABS-CBN's "Tonight With Boy Abunda" on Tuesday, March 22, 2016. The singer has just recently transferred to the Kapamilya network after her ten-year stay with GMA-7.
Formerly known as Jonalyn Viray, Jona said that she made the switch (from Kapuso to Kapamilya) because she has to grow as an artist. She also revealed that Star Music's plans for her had been her deciding factor on making the career move.
On why she changed her name to just Jona, the petite belter said that it was Star Music head Roxy Liquigan's idea as part of her new packaging as a new Kapamilya.
Meanwhile, she disclosed that she parted ways with the Kapuso network in good terms and she is grateful with what her former network has done for her in the ten years she was there.
Expect to see Jonalyn in more Kapamilya programs, especially to promote the song "Maghihintay Ako" which she interpreted for the Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs 2016.
Aside from that, she is also the voice behind "I Will Survive," the theme song of the series "We Will Survive" which stars Pokwang and Melai Cantiveros.
