GMA-7's "Ilustrado" which starred Alden Richards as Jose Rizal is an official nominee at the New York Festivals World's Best TV & Films. The program is vying for the Mini-Series category against eight other nominees - "Texas Rising," "TUT" and "Sons of Liberty" from the USA; "The Trials of Jimmy Rose" and "Midwinter of the Spirit" from the United Kingdom; "Battle for Sevastopo" from Ukraine; "Shades of Guilt - The Festival" from Germany; and "Old Money" from Austria.
Televised from October 20 - November 14, 2014, the mini-series is about the early life of the Philippine national hero, Jose Rizal - from his teenage life leading to his tragic first love that inspired the creation of Maria Clara, the heroine in his book "Noli Me Tangere."
Recently, "Ilustrado" won silver in the Best Program Opening Sequence category at the PromaxBDA Asia 2015.
Locally, it also won Best Drama Mini-Series and Best Actor for Alden at the 29th PMPC Star Awards for Television, as well as Best Drama Series/Program at the 37th Catholic Mass Media Awards, among others.
Meanwhile, aside from the Mini-Series category, "Ilustrado" is also nominated under the Entertainment Program Open & Titles category at the New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards 2016.
The winners will be announced during the gala on April 19, 2016 in Las Vegas at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show.
