Betong wins "Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown"

Albert "Betong" Sumaya was declared Celebrity Sole Survivor at last night's finale of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown.

Betong got four out of seven jury votes. Those who voted for him were KC Montero, Arthur Solinap, Chuckie Dreyfus and, of course, his partner Maey Bautista.

He competed against Mara Yokohama who got two votes courtesy of Arnold Aninion and John Odulio, and Stef Prescott who got one vote courtesy of her partner Gino dela Peña.

As the winner, Betong received a check worth P3-million from GMA-7 Chairman and CEO Felipe Gozon and President and COO Gilberto Duavit, Jr.

When asked where he plans to use the money, Betong said he will pay his credit card debts and the amortization of their house with the money. He will also use it to give his family a better life.

Before joining Survivor Philippines, Betong was an Executive Producer to some shows of GMA News Channel particularly Ang Pinaka and Day Off. He wants to get into acting with Maey but he said he won't leave his job as an EP. In fact, he wants to executive produce the next season of Survivor Philippines.

SPCDS: Arnold Aninion is the 5th Jury

Philippine Volcanoes member Arnold Aninion was voted out of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown last night, January 24, 2012.

image

He got four (4) votes and it was enough to put out the light of his torch. The only other castaway, aside from himself, who didn't vote for him was Mara Lopez who cried a river when they got back to camp.

SPCDS: Castaways Vote Off Arthur Solinap

Arthur Solinap was voted off in last night's episode of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown.

image

Seems like Bulan's plan to vote off the remaining original Tala tribe members are taking into action. Prior to Arthur, it was Chuckie Dreyfus who said goodbye to the Apolaki tribe and became the first member of the jury for this season.

SPCDS: The Tribal Merge and the Feast

The castaways were instructed to drop their Bulan and Tala buffs in last night's episode of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown. Both tribes only had 5 remaining celebrities left which formed the Top 10.

image

The 2 tribes were merged into one that was called the Apolaki Tribe. While Bulan was the goddess of the moon and Tala was the goddess of the stars, Apolaki means god of the sun and warriors.

SPCDS: Carlo Gonzales Gets Voted Out

Carlo Gonzales was voted out of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown. It was after he got 3 votes from ex-Bulan members Arnold Aninion, Mara Lopez and Stef Presscott.

image

Carlo, Chuckie Dreyfus and Maey Bautista believed Arnold and Mara when the two told them they would be voting out Stef. Little did they know that the ex-Bulans would vote Carlo out. It could have been a tie, with Carlo and Stef getting 3 votes each, but Arnold suddenly gave Stef his Immunity Bracelet which the latter used so the votes against her weren't counted.

Survivor Philippines CDS: Snake Bite and Tribal Shuffle

Stef Prescott was bitten by an animal while they were sleeping at the Bulan camp. Her tribe members as well as the medical team who came to her aid couldn't tell what animal attacked her just by looking at the bite, reason why Stef was flew back to Manila and brought to Makati Medical Center.

Several tests was done on Stef and they eventually found out that it was a Philippine Cobra that bit her.

While Stef was gone, the two tribes were called upon and was told to drop their buffs. They were surprised at the sudden shuffle.

The partners were separated, and although some of them were happy with the outcome of the shuffle, majority of them were sad to be parted with their alliances.

Bulan Tribe now has Arthur Solinap, Betong and Isabel Granada together with old Bulan members KC Montero, Gino dela Peña and John Odulio.

Maribel Lopez Gets Voted Off Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown

The Tala Tribe went to the Tribal Council in tonight's episode of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown. After a heated discussion among the tribe members, especially between Maribel and Carlo Gonzales who got pissed with the former due to her deceitful strategy, they were made to vote.

image

Gladly, the rule in using the Immunity Bracelet was changed. In previous seasons, the castaways needed to decide if they wanted to use their Immunity Bracelets before voting began. In tonight's episode, though, the Tala Tribe voted first before they castaways were asked if they wanted to use the bracelet.

Jackie Forster and Angelicopter Quits "Survivor Philippines"

The team of Jackie Forster and Angelicopter decided to quit Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown before Tala even had the chance to vote during the second Tribal Council aired on November 28, 2011.

image

Jackie and Angelicopter couldn't take how the last Immunity Challenge has turned out. It's not about the fact that they lost the challenge, but how the Bulan tribe, most especially Arnold Aninion who "turned into a monster" during the challenge, played dirty.

SPCDS: Alyssa and Aifha Gets the Boot

The Bulan Tribe faced the Tribal Council in tonight's episode of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown.

image

Richard Gutierrez's announcement that the Bulan Tribe had to vote out a pair, the castaways thought twice about voting out Maribel Lopez even if the actress/beauty queen volunteered to be voted out. Maribel and her partner, daughter Mara Lopez, seemed to be more useful to the tribe than partners Alyssa Alano and Aifha Medina so the Tribal Council ended up with Alyssa and Aifha saying goodbye.

SPCDS: Geneva Cruz Doesn't Wanna End Up Hating KC Montero

Geneva Cruz was still throwing a fit in tonight's episode of Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown. She still wants to quit because according to her, she didn't wanna end up hating her ex-lover and SPCDS partner, KC Montero.

image

"Pinahiya niya ako sa buong bansa," the sultry singer cried. "Wala na akong career dito. Hiyang-hiya na ako sa balat ko e. Paano mo masasabing pagmamahal, nakikita mo asawa mo, hirap na hirap na damdamin, gusto mo pa ring maglaro para maging Survivor. Manalo ng 3M pesos. Mas pinili niya iyon kaysa sa akin. This is not a game anymore when someone is getting hurt."

Obviously, what Geneva was feeling has a deeper root than what the Survivor cameras saw. She's like a jealous lover who wants her other half to choose between her and something that's important to her partner.

But then I thought they are exes. The jealousy/tantrum beats me.

The show's psychologist, Ali Gui, who talked to Geneva said, "She's very watchful and careful na baka hindi s'ya maingat sa sarili nya at maha-hype 'yan ng media, so doon n'ya dinecide that she wants to quit."

But it seemed that Geneva had a lot to say. "Pipiliin n'ya itong game na 'to sa asawa? Di ba napakasakit naman... Ang sakit, e... Mas gusto n'yo akong umupo do'n habang umaalis s'ya? Ang sakit sagad na sa buto 'yong sakit. Sagad sa buto!"

The psychologist further explained what Geneva was trying to do. "She knew very well that KC wanted very much to join the game. Whenever she doesn't see that kind of reciprocation na ine-expect n'ya from KC, doon naman ang card n'ya nilalabas n'ya na 'Ok, I'm going to quit.'"

Geneva, who wanted the boat to take her back to the mainland pronto, was so hurt she couldn't keep her mouth shut. "Pa'no mo masasabi pagmamahal na nakikita mo 'yong asawa mo hirap na hirap na damdamin gusto mo pa rin maglaro para maging winner ng Survivor at manalo ng 3 million pesos? Mas pinipili n'ya 'yon. He chose that. He's choosing to win that. yong title na 'yon tsaka yong pera na 'yon kesa sa 'kin. No doktora, no do you understand even how I feel? You don't even know what we are talking about when it's just him and me. He doesn't feel anything. This is not a game anymore when someone is getting hurt, when someone is getting hurt! Her whole family is hurting," she said pertaining to her family.

I must say Survivor wants us to get a full dose of Geneva Cruz this week. And then we thought it was Ellen Adarna who wanted to quit early.

SP-CDS: Bulan and Tala (Pilot Episode)

Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown premiered last night on GMA-7. The castaways were put inside a cage at the sea and they had to get out of it through 2 exits at the bottom. There were sacks floating on the water on their way to the island which contained random supplies that would help them in their stay at the island. Some sacks, though, just contained sand and rocks.

image

Once they arrived at the island, they had to look for two Immunity Bracelets from among the small jars hanging on the Immunity Tree. There were a lot of jars which they had to break using a pole. The two pairs who were able to find the two Immunity Bracelets were put into two separate groups. Arnold Aninion and John Odulio's Immunity Bracelet contained the symbol of Bulan (goddess of the moon) so they represented the Bulan Tribe. Chuckie Dreyfus and Isabel Granada, who were the second to find a bracelet, represented the Tala Tribe as the Immunity Bracelet they found contained the symbol of Tala (goddess of the stars).

They did a schoolyard pick starting with Arnold and John since they were the first ones to find their Immunity Bracelet. As the picking came to an end, the lineup came to this:

Bulan Tribe:
Arnold Aninion and John Odulio
Gino dela Peña and Stef Prescott
KC Montero
and Geneva Cruz
Maribel Lopez
and Mara Lopez
Alyssa Alano
and Aifha Medina

Tala Tribe
Chuckie Dreyfus and Isabel Granada
Carlo Gonzales and Arthur Solinap
Ellen Adarna and Filo Cucueco
Jackie Forster
and Angelicopter
Betong
and Maey Bautista

The Bulan Tribe were given that side of the beach they arrived in as their campsite. The Tala Tribe, on the other hand, was given a map to locate their own.
