David Cook Debuts With 'Light On'

American Idol 7 winner David Cook is going to debut with the single entitled 'Light On' which is part of a new album which is yet untitled. The song was produced by Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo who has also produced almost every single album of Green Day.

'Light On' is going to be released via iTunes on September 30. Also, David's album will be released on November 18, 2008.

Here's the (somewhat inspirational) lyrics to the song:

LIGHT ON

Never really said too much
Afraid it wouldn't be enough
Just try to keep my spirits up
When there's no point in grieving
Doesn't matter anyway
Words could never make me stay
Words will never take my place
When you know I'm leaving
__________

Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A nake light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it's late at night you can look inside
You won't feel so alone
__________

You know we've been down that road
What seems a thousand times before
My back to a closing door and my eyes to the seasons
That roll out underneath my heels
And you don't know how bad it feels
To leave the only one that I have ever believed in
__________

Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A nake light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it's late at night you can look inside
You won't feel so alone
__________

Sometimes it feels like we've run out of luck
When the signal keeps on breaking up
When the wires cross in my brain
You'll start my heart again
When I come along
__________

Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A nake light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it's late at night you can look inside
You won't feel so alone

Ramielle Malubay in Concert

Ramielle Malubay, the Filipino-American singer who made it to the Top 12 of American Idol 7, is going to have a concert in the Philippines with Ogie Alcasid. Ogie Sings with the Idols is going to be held on December 20 and 21 at the Aliw Theater. Pinoy Idol winner Gretchen Espina and semi-finalist Robby Navarro are also two of the guests.

Some reports say that Danny Noriega, AI7 Top 24 and Ramielle's BFF, will also visit the Philippines with the 4'11" singer to also be part of the concert.

The two are actually rumored not to be BFF's anymore but Ramiele denied it in her interview with accesshollywood. She said, "That is so not true. He is kind of busy right now and I am busy as well. I talk to him whenever I get the chance. We will text every once in awhile but it’s not like all the time like it used to be. We are going to the Philippines together in December. We are going to do a concert together."

A KO for David Cook

Simon said he watched Tuesday night's performance again when he got home and "it wasn't quite so clear-cut as we called it."

They were all praise for Archuleta, bashed Cook, thinking that the people would follow their lead. But the people voted for who they thought was fit to be the next American Idol. A lot were expecting Archuleta to be the winner. But thank goodness the one who is really deserving got the title.

It was good to see the top 12 perform again. I was so thrilled to see Ramiele Malubay and Jason Castro. But it seemed that Ramiele's singing parts were so short. Really. The parts should have been divided equally, regardless of height.

Also, Jimmy Kimmel bashed another one of my favorites. Here's the spoken line: Hey maybe you guys could help me with this. I valet parked outside, how much should I tip Sanjaya?

And here's a video of Archuleta's fans gathered at the Energy Solutions Arena to watch the live broadcast of the finale. Such reactions.

David vs David

I really believe that what the judges say influence how the people vote. Simon bashed David Cook after each song, while praising Archuleta after each performance. Even saying that it's a "knockout." Oh well, that's what they do to any contestant they wanna get booted off. It's just like saying "vote for Archuleta, we praised him."

Be that as it may, I was pleased with the results on dialidol.com... They predict that Cook will win against Archuleta with a 10% vote margin. They had been consistent with their predictions since Season 4. Hope they're still right this season.

Wildcard!

So I admit I lost interest in continuing the blog after Ramiele Malubay got voted off in AI. I don't watch the show as much anymore but I still keep myself updated through the website. There was this poll last week about who you want to see back on AI. Ramiele and Danny were two of the choices. Danny got the highest vote, followed by Ramiele. I wonder what that's for. Is there gonna be a wildcard? Hope so.

Is It Goodbye, Ramiele?

I like Ramiele Malubay. I know she can sing better than most of the AI Season 7 contestants. I also know that she hasn't been picking the right songs to showcase her talent. For the Dolly Parton week, I was kinda hoping she would pick I Will Always Love You, but she didn't. The song went to Syesha Mercado. It would have been a perfect song for her.

I just hope that she doesn't go this week. But really, I'm feelin' it.

Goodbye Chikezie

Goodbye Chikezie...

Great talent, indeed. But he was the least favorite among the viewers so he had to go. As Paula Abdul put it, there should be no regret whatsoever for whoever leaves because they're already in the top 10 and they have already proved their worth. One just have to be cut off each week. It just so happened that it was Chikezie tonight. He's a great singer, just kinda old fashioned.

Jason Castro and Syesha Mercado joined Chikezie in the bottom 3.

And Ramiel Malubay did it again tonight. I really hope her voice cooperates next week, AND that she picks a good song. I'm really glad she made it, and even gladder that she was visible in the production number.

AI Top 10 Performance

Ramiele Malubay was the first to sing with her rendition of Heart's Alone. IMO it was good, especially considering that she's sick. She doesn't have the flu, her voice "just went bye-bye". But honestly, I wished her voice cooperated because it's a big song and she could've done better. Only Randy Jackson didn't like it, though. Simon even said that after what Ramiele did last week, which he thought was failing, and she was still able to stay in the show, there's no question about her being able to stay after that Alone performance.

Ramiele Malubay's rendition of Heart's Alone

The forgettable performances for me include that of Jason Castro, chikezie, David A, and Kristy Lee Cook.

As much as they praised Michael Johns, I didn't really like it. He was trying to reach notes that just weren't in his range. I also noticed how David A's voice faltered at one point.

The best performance for me was that of David Cook. Michael Jackson's Billy Jean, rock style. He is the whole package.
