Paul Newman Dies at 83

WESTPORT, Conn. - Paul Newman, the Oscar-winning superstar who personified cool as the anti-hero of such films as "Hud," "Cool Hand Luke" and "The Color of Money" — followed by a second act as an activist, race car driver and popcorn impresario — has died. He was 83. (AP)

Britney Spears' New Single: Womanizer

click to listen
Britney Spears' New Single, Womanizer, debuted last Friday over NYC's Z100-FM. It will have its television debut via The Hills on Monday, September 29th.

Womanizer is the first single out of Britney's new album, Circus. The album will be made available on December 2, coinciding with her 27th birthday.

Here's the lyrics to the song:

WOMANIZER

Superstar
Where you from, how's it going?
I know you
Gotta clue, what you’re doing?
You can play brand new to all the other chicks out here
But I know what you are, what you are, baby

Look at you
Gettin' more than just a re-up
Baby, you
Got all the puppets with their strings up
Fakin' like a good one, but I call 'em like I see 'em
I know what you are, what you are, baby

Womanizer, Woman-Womanizer, you’re a Womanizer
Oh, Womanizer, oh you’re a Womanizer, baby
You-you-you are
You-you-you are
Womanizer, Womanizer, Womanizer

Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
You got me goin’
You’re oh so charmin’
But I can’t do it
You Womanizer

Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
You say I’m crazy
I got you’re crazy
You’re nothin’ but a
Womanizer

Daddy-O
You got the swagger of a champion
Too bad for you
You just can't find the right companion
I guess when you have one too many, makes it hard
It could be easy, who you are
That’s just who you are, baby

Lollipop
Must mistake me; you’re the sucker
To think that I
Would be a victim, not another
Say it, play it how you wanna
But no way I'm ever gonna fall for you,
Never you, baby
Womanizer, Woman-Womanizer, you’re a Womanizer
Oh, Womanizer, oh you’re a Womanizer, baby
You-you-you are
You-you-you are
Womanizer, Womanizer, Womanizer

Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
You got me goin’
You’re oh so charmin’
But I can’t do it
You Womanizer

Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
You say I’m crazy
I got you’re crazy
You’re nothin’ but a
Womanizer

Maybe if we both lived in a different world
(Womanizer, Womanizer, Womanizer, Womanizer)
It would be all good, and maybe I could be ya girl
But I can't 'cause we don't
You…

Womanizer, Woman-Womanizer, you’re a Womanizer
Oh, Womanizer, oh you’re a Womanizer, baby
You-you-you are
You-you-you are
Womanizer, Womanizer, Womanizer

Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
You got me goin’
You’re oh so charmin’
But I can’t do it
You Womanizer

Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
You say I’m crazy
I got you’re crazy
You’re nothin’ but a
Womanizer

Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah
Boy, don't try to front
I-I know just-just what you are, ah, ah

Womanizer, Woman-Womanizer, you’re a Womanizer
Oh, Womanizer, oh you’re a Womanizer, baby.

Michelle Van Eimeren Wishes Ogie and Regine Well

Michelle Van Eimeren, former Miss Australia and Ogie Alcasid's estranged wife, arrived in the country yesterday via Royal Brunei Air together with daughters Leila and Sarah. The mother and daughters are here to watch Ogie's 20th anniversary concert entitled Twenty/Twenty where Ogie's current girlfriend, Regine Velasquez, will have a special guesting.

Michelle hasn't lost her Tagalog tongue. She talked to the reporters who waited for her arrival at the airport in our native language. Seems like she had readied herself on the possible questions that might be thrown at her, especially about her separation with Ogie and her ex-husband's current affair. Michelle was already in Australia with their kids when speculations about the separation broke out, and she has been silent about it.

In an interview with Startalk, Michelle made it clear that her marriage with Ogie has long been annulled and that she wishes them (Ogie and Regine) well.

Michelle and daughters Leila and Sarah are staying in the country for a two-week vacation.

Jean Garcia on FHM's Cover

Jean Garcia is one of the country's best character actresses, no doubt about that. And now she's undoubtedly one of the sexiest as she poses half-naked for the cover of the country's leading magazine for men.

At 39 years old, Jean says she was at first nervous during the start of the pictorial but then felt that she's in good hands which made her relax and enjoy the experience. This is her first time to go this sexy. And she's definitely one hot mama!

David Blaine's Disappointing Dive of Death

So David Blaine decided to hang himself upside down for 60 hours, but with 5-minute hourly rest. Makes no sense. What's the sense of doing it when he'd take an hourly rest complete with doctors on the set? The idea of a stunt, especially for magicians, is to defy what a non-magician person can do. He could have hung himself for five straight hours and it could have been more impressive.

He was also supposed to finish the act with a 10-feet jump, but instead just dangled and then he was reeled away.

"David Blaine's Dive of Death," ABC's two-hour special, only had 7.7 million viewers, not much of what had been expected.

Well, fans booed him. I guess his next act would be more thought-off than this one.

Survivor Philippines Ep 09: Pillow Fight

Immunity Challenge time once again and it's a "pillow fight" between the two tribes. Host Paolo calls the names of the survivors who will go to the circle of sand where they will dig out the pillow with their bare hands.

Paolo calls Kiko of Naak and Jace of Jarakay. Kiko finds the pillow and he tells Jace that they should dig it out first before fighting for it. But Jace eventually tricks him off by saying he will just fix his shorts. Jace runs to their base with the pillow while Kiko holds his position.

Vevherly's emotions goes overboard with Emerson and calls him "traidor." She cries remembering how Emerson cursed her the previous day - in the middle of the challenge.

With the lack of cooperation in the Naak tribe, the Jarakay wins the second Immunity Challenge.

Will Vevherly's sudden burst of emotion cause her tribemates to vote her out tomorrow? Or will they blame it all on Emerson and vote him out instead?

Survivor Philippines Ep 08: Bonds and Alliances

Patani and Nina are able to bond well as the two go "tulya" hunting. They weren't chums at all during their Naak days. But they find friends in each other's company now in their new tribe. The Jarakay finally gets to eat rice after four days of not having fire.

Zita of the Naak tribe is able to make fire with the strike-anywhere match they got from the mini-challenge. The whole tribe rejoice as they are able to cook and eat.

The plotting of alliance among the guys of the Jarakay tribe deepens. Jace, Marlon, Gigit and John, including Veronica, agreed that the other girls in the tribe shouldn't know about their alliance.

Clay Aiken Confirms He's Gay

Clay Aiken on People/PerezHilton
Officially coming out, Clay Aiken (of American Idol Season 2) is on the cover of People with his newborn son, Parker Foster Aiken. The baby was born on August 8 in North Carolina to the fifty-year-old Jaymes Foster who Clay met while he was still in American Idol.

Clay is considered as the most successful male and the most successful runner-up in American Idol history.

He has long been rumored to be gay, but dismisses the subject saying that his sexuality is not anyone else's business.

The magazine is set to release EDT Wednesday. A banner ad on People.com says "Come back Wednesday for the full scoop on Clay Aiken at 7 am EDT."

David Cook Debuts With 'Light On'

American Idol 7 winner David Cook is going to debut with the single entitled 'Light On' which is part of a new album which is yet untitled. The song was produced by Grammy-winning producer Rob Cavallo who has also produced almost every single album of Green Day.

'Light On' is going to be released via iTunes on September 30. Also, David's album will be released on November 18, 2008.

Here's the (somewhat inspirational) lyrics to the song:

LIGHT ON

Never really said too much
Afraid it wouldn't be enough
Just try to keep my spirits up
When there's no point in grieving
Doesn't matter anyway
Words could never make me stay
Words will never take my place
When you know I'm leaving
__________

Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A nake light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it's late at night you can look inside
You won't feel so alone
__________

You know we've been down that road
What seems a thousand times before
My back to a closing door and my eyes to the seasons
That roll out underneath my heels
And you don't know how bad it feels
To leave the only one that I have ever believed in
__________

Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A nake light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it's late at night you can look inside
You won't feel so alone
__________

Sometimes it feels like we've run out of luck
When the signal keeps on breaking up
When the wires cross in my brain
You'll start my heart again
When I come along
__________

Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Something I rely on to get home
One I can feel at night
A nake light, a fire to keep me warm
Try to leave a light on when I'm gone
Even in the daylight, shine on
And when it's late at night you can look inside
You won't feel so alone

Survivor Philippines Ep 07: Fire

The Jarakay tribe gets the reward for the challenge, going back to their camp triumphantly with the flint. The Naak tribe, though, stays with Paolo. They have to do a mini challenge wherein they have to hold a matchstick with their mouth and do their best to keep it dry while they tread on the water. After the given time limit, they can take home the matchsticks that remain dry. In the end they are able to take 6 matchsticks back to their camnp.

Cris expresses his hard feelings on Kiko caused by the latter's leadership during the Reward Challenge which they lost. Cris says that he knows how to drive and he should have been listened to during the boat part of the challenge. Driving it seems has been his occupation ever since. He tries to explain to Kiko how they could have won that challenge if not for Kiko's wrong instructions on the boat. Kiko tries to defend himself by saying that he knows the boat because he had been part of a dragon boat team that placed in competitions in Hong Kong and Boracay. That's the reason why he asked to be the leader during the said challenge.

The Jarakay is able to make fire using the flint and everyone's happy and excited. Fire means they can cook food and boy are they hungry. Marlon tries to get the trust of the girls. According to him, if he wasn't able to get the alliance of the guys, he's more than determined to get the support of the girls.

Will Marlon succeed? I have a feeling he will be the first to be booted out should the Jarakay tribe fail the next Immunity Challenge.

Mark Anthony Fernandez to do a New Fantaserye

Mark Anthony Fernandez/gma7kapuso
Playing the role of Cyprus in Regine Velasquez's Ako si Kim Samsoon was perhaps Mark Anthony Fernandez's biggest break after his hiatus from showbiz, and GMA 7 has been quite successful molding Mark into such a fine leading man. Many has noticed that Mark has become more handsome these days. That, or the role of Cyprus has suited him so well.

Ako si Kim Samsoon is ending soon. They have actually finished shooting the episodes few weeks ago. And what's next with Mark? PEP reports that Mark is going to do "Luna Mystica," a fantasy series with Heart Evangelista.

Mark is happy with the trust that GMA 7 is giving him. Through that, he is now considered as one of the four main leading men of the network, the other three being Dingdong Dantes, Dennis Trillo and Richard Gutierrez.

Mark Anthony Fernandez is also on the cover of Metro Him magazine's latest issue.

Laarni Lozada on Boy and Kris

Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 Grand Star Dreamer Laarni Lozada guested on Boy and Kris yesterday, September 22, 2008. She did a duet with her mom Nita Losala of the song Bituwing Walang Ningning (a Sharon Cuneta original). They were supposed to sing Solitaire but then a different song played and a performer that she was, Laarni just sang the song. As a result, she got praises from the two hosts, Kris said, "That is what a performer is all about. I know that you were set to sing something else, something else totally came in, pero, bilib ako sa 'yo." And Boy said, "Not just a mark of a true performer but, you know, you're a winner. Tingnan n'yo may prescence of mind..."

Asked on what song she now wants to sing to her mom, Laarni promptly said, "Iingatan Ka." Kris said she had goose bumps when Laarni sang a block from the said song.

The show was all about good genes being passed on from parents, singing genes in particular. Other guests were Gary and Paolo Valenciano, and Makisig Morales and his dad.

Laarni even got to sing a portion from Natutulog Ba ang Diyos to Gary Valenciano because as she said, Gary V was one of the Filipino singers that influenced her life.

Survivor Philippines Ep 06: The Flint

Seems like most of them has their own plan on how to win and how to win the trust (and votes) of the other castaways.

The survivors' wit and physical abilities are tested in the Reward Challenge - the reward of which is a flint, a type of mineral that can be used to make fire. Both tribes want to win, as both haven't been successful in making fire since they arrived at the island, thus, they were unable to cook food.

Jarakay chooses Nikki not to join the challenge since they have to equal the number of survivors in the Naak tribe. Naak lost Chev in episode 5.

As it is, Naak tribe lacks cooperation. They clash with their ideas, each doing what one thinks is right, therefore not being able to work as a team.

As expected, Jarakay tribe wins the Reward Challenge.

Survivor Philippines Ep 05: Goodbye Chev

Chev is eliminated for getting the most number of votes. The other eight members of the Naak tribe vote for her while she votes for Kaye.

As Cris says, Chev doesn't know how to listen especially during the immunity challenge when they were teaching her how to do her part the right way.

On her farewell interview, Chev expressed her disgust on her ex-tribe mates: "I hate you all guys!" I just wonder what's with the "rock on" fingers sign that she did.

Survivor Philippines Ep 04: The First Immunity Challenge

Both tribes aren't able to start a fire yet so they have to eat everything raw. All the guys at the Jarakay tribe are able to eat raw (small) fishes except for JC. He gives it a try but it only results to vomiting.

The merging of tribes (genders) happened on day three. The castaways that goes to the tribe Jarakay (Thai for buwaya) are Gigit, John, Marlon, Patani, Niña, Charisse, Veronica, Jace, and Niki. The ones who form tribe Naak (Thai for snake) are Zita, Chev, Vevherly, Emerson, Kiko, Cris, Rob, Kaye, and JC.

There are some who are in favor of the group merge like Patani who says that there is no team work in her previous Naak tribe. There are also those who expects it but doesn't expect it as soon like Niña.

The immunity challenge is done immediately after the tribal buffs have been distributed. The Naak tribe looses the competition and most members blame it on Chev who sat inside the spirit house that the other tribe members carried. She was also the one responsible for getting the pouches which contain the puzzle pieces which the puzzle maker has to solve at the end of the line. Chev proved to have problems in getting the pouches from the hangers.

Survivor Philippines Ep 03: Conflict

JC silently listening (and smiling) to his arguing tribemates
In every group of persons, there's always one or two members who at one point will go against everyone else. It is a fact in Jarakay tribe as Marlon seems to want to be the leader. He talks all the time, complaining about certain Jarakay tribe members that don't seem to be working as hard as he expects them to; complaining about the others who he says are not doing anything, when all he does himself is talk. And he never stops. He wants to manipulate, and he has started with Cris. He tries talking to Gigit hinting that the leader go against Kiko as well, but Gigit doesn't give in. He even passes the leadership to Kiko after failing to start a fire, a task that he as the leader gave to himself and John. Jace, the gym instructor, sees malice in Gigit's decision to pass the leadership on to Kiko. Jace thinks Gigit does that to win the others' pity, and eventually their votes.

Zita, the laundrywoman, is loosing her bra. She took it as something against the other girls' not taking care of her things, despite the fact that she takes care of their things.

On other notes, now I believe those who say that JC is really cute =)

Survivor Philippines Ep 02: Raw Meat

Chev and Patani looking for crabs
Both Jarakay and Naak tribes become busy building their shelters. Most of the castaways are city dwellers and have no experience living without their basic needs, while some are used to it just like the nanny, Patani, and the farmer, Bheverly. It doesn't cause much problem, though, because they have expected the scenario and have prepared themselves for it. The Naak tribe shows cooperation in building their shelter and searching for food. Though not thoroughly built, they are glad that they have made quite a shield if ever rain poured comes nighttime. And although they have caught quite a number of small crabs that could be their food for the day, starting a fire proves to be the problem. On the other hand, Patani, determined to be the sole survivor, eats some raw oysters. She says she haven't tried it before, but she has to do it because she needs to eat.

The Jarakay tribe, on the other hand, is having some issues with the location of their shelter. While the girls of the Naak tribe are done with it, the boys are still on the planning stage. There's not much cooperation between them and issues of leadership turns up. On progress, they are able to find their "tree mail" where they have to check every so often for new mail. They are also juvilant upon finding their drinking well.

Character issues are starting to arise. As much as the others like Patani's comic and talkative nature, it causes some disapproval especially with Nikki who seems to want to sleep all the time.

Survivor Philippines: The Pilot Episode

It was a long wait, but Survivor Philippines finally aired its pilot episode tonight at 9:15 pm right after Regine Velasquez's "Ako Si Kim Sam Soon." It was a fantastic opening, from the helicopter shot to the 18 castaways in a boat. The location, Koh Tarutao, is perfect for the series considering its remoteness and beauty.

The first task had been for the castaways to race from the boat to the island. The castaways were actually clueless that their challenge was about to begin that moment, having been told that they were going to the island for an interview. Not being allowed to talk to one another, the words they exchanged while swimming to the island were their first conversations.

The gym instructor named Jace was the first one to reach the shore of Koh Tarutao, thereby getting the reward of having the bigger camp for him and his group in which they were eventually divided into. They were actually grouped by gender and the males became the Jarakay tribe while the females, Naak.

The first group challenge was immediately done despite the rains. An individual from each group became the flag bearer and puzzle solver. The rest of the group were tied together while doing an obstacle course. The guys did the first part of the course almost effortlessly thereby leaving the girls behind. The girls, though, almost won when the guys lingered on the last part of the challenge - the puzzle solving. But as it was, the Jarakay tribe won, getting the prize which consisted of materials to make a shelter with. The girls, on the other hand, had to be tied by twos all through the night as their consequence.

Each tribe carrying a big box, they went to find their respective campsites. Since Jace won the swimming race and he got the chance to have the bigger camp site, the Jarakay tribe was blessed this early on. But then it was already dark when they reached their camp site so they weren't able to do much. The girls reached their campsite earlier but since they still had to look for whatever materials they needed to make their shelter, they faced the same fate as the male tribe.

Both tribes slept with their raincoats on because neither of the two was able to make a tent which could have shielded them from the rain while they slept. The raincoats were part of the little supplemented materials contained in the big box they brought to their sites.

Devoid of daylight time, the girls wasn't able to find food for the night. They slept in the rain, with empty stomachs.

Kiko (Raymund Francis Rustia) is an eye-catcher with his dread locks and good looks. Had this show been a popularity contest, I'm sure he'd generate enough votes to get him through. According to the pilot episode, Kiko used to live in Boracay but is now a businessman in Quezon City.

PDA 2: Laarni Lozada, Grand Star Dreamer

After three months of being inside the academy, we now have a winner. After all the hardships, the bashing she received both from co-scholars and the mentors, the people's bet Laarni Losala emerged as the champion. Blessed with exceptional voice range, she captured the hearts of many Filipinos in and outside the country, voting for her early on right after the top 6 was announced, making "Scholar B" lead the vote ranking since day one.

Laarni got a total of 651,696 text votes taking up 35.21% of the total number of votes. Bugoy ranked second for getting 549,760 text votes (29.7%) while Miguel ranked third with 253,412 votes (13.69%) making a very small margin to Liezel's 247,346 votes (13.36%) placing her in the fourth rank. Van was surprisingly in the fifth slot with only 112,065 text votes (6.06%). He, along with Laarni and Bugoy, was always well-applauded from the gala nights to the mall shows up to the Grand Dream Night, that most predicted he would rank second or third. The scholar who ranked sixth was Cris with 36,487 text votes (1.97%).

Half of the Top 6 scholars haven't experienced being put on probation. Liezel and Bugoy were not once in the bottom group. Cris, on the other hand, had been in the bottom group but she was always saved by either the scholars or the mentors. Having not been on probation, the network wasn't able to test their vote-generating powers, so to speak.

Miguel had been on probation a number of times while Van and Laarni had experienced it once. Laarni became a probee with Miguel and Apple once and she proved her worth by getting 72% of the total votes.

Liezel, who was an early crowd and mentors' favorite, had been predicted by many to be the next Grand Star Dreamer. Though she had this unique voice quality, she didn't seem to progress much unlike her co-scholars. People eventually tagged her as predictable and even boring for failing to something new as the competition progressed.

The bitterness, though, was evident to most of the scholars' reaction and speeches during the finale. Only Cris and Miguel seemed contented with their ranking. Liezel was evidently surprised for being just at the fourth slot, as well as her mother who kept a sour face all throughout.

Laarni couldn't help but cry since she was declared as the winner. Known for her emotions, her tears flowed that she even had to stop singing at one point. The crowd roared for their bet as the stage filled with fireworks to celebrate Laarni's victory, which at the moment seemed not just hers but her supporters' as well. Just like her song goes, "ang tagumpay mo'y tagumpay nating lahat din."

To Laarni, job well done. Congratulations!

PDA2: Last Three Nights Before the Verdict is Revealed

The scholars went out of their way to help the charities they have chosen to support. Laarni guested on Wowowee last week and performed with the Ambassadors of Light Chorale. Miguel did a mini-concert at Duty Free with blind musicians to gain funds for his sponsored charity Mindanao Emergency Response Network through Mindanao Tulong Bakwet. Cris also performed with her former band members to earn something for her Gawad Kalinga sponsorship.

The finale is only three nights away. Many say that the title Grand Dreamer is a toss between Laarni and Bugoy. Even majority of the ex-scholars who guested on Uberture this afternoon voted for Laarni, with Bugoy going second and Van, third.

Laarni has proved her worth as a versatile singer/performer. She gives justice to whatever song is given her by the mentors, no matter how awkward the song seem at first. Proof was April Boy's 'Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin where she gained many viewers' respect thereby showering her with a load of unimaginable votes when she got into probation, statistics of the tally was almost unbelievable (she had 73% while Miguel and Apple both got 13%).

Bugoy is nevertheless gifted with unique voice and in-born musicality. His range, though, has limits and his sexuality questionable. He gets great applause every gala night and during their mall show, even making a fiesta-like atmosphere in his hometown when he visited, but he hasn't tested his "vote appeal" as he had never been on probation yet.

The Forbidden Questions is Back!

For the morning listeners of Magic 89.9, the long wait is over. Good Times with Mo is bringing back their segment "Forbidden Questions" after a long rest due to issues (the "wang" word) they had with the KBP.

Janice de Belen will be their "forbidden guest" tomorrow. Expect some controversies (as usual) to arise after the interview. Many speculate that the interview would be filled with facts about Janice's past husbands Aga Muhlach and John Estrada but knowing Mo, the interview will surely be more than that.

Good Times with Mo airs Monday to Friday from 6 to 9 in the morning.

The Trouble with Freedom of Speech

Russell Brand hosted the VMAs last Sunday and he raised some controversy by (1) endorsing a presidential candidate; (2) by bashing the Jonas Brothers' purity rings; (3) by saying that purity rings are better to control a boyband rather than a leather belt used on the Jackson 5; and (4) by saying that Alex Rodriguez made fifty-year-old Madonna feel like a virgin again.

Jordin Sparks later defended the Jonas Brothers by saying that "it's not bad to wear promise ring because not everybody, guy or girl, wants to be a slut."

Jennifer Lopez on Elle

Jennifer Lopez has been a symbol of beauty ever since she started. But many of those who have seen the latest Elle magazine knew that J.Lo's pics had been photoshopped big time some even say that the Latina singer is unrecognizable on the cover, and that photoshop had taken 30 pounds off her.

25th MTV Video Music Awards

Many calls the 25th MTV Video Music Awards as a Britney night. She opened the night with a little skit (no singing) and received the very first award given out that night, best female video for the song "Piece of Me," dedicating it to her fans. She also won best pop video and video of the year for the same song.

On the other hand, host Russell Brand's jokes regarding George Bush and the purity rings of the Jonas Brothers caused a bit of controversy. He later apologized, anyway, so I guess all is well.

Christina Aguilera did a techno-remix of "Genie in a Bottle" and also sang her new song "Keeps Gettin' Better."

Here's a complete list of winners:

Video of the Year: Britney Spears (Piece of Me)

Best Male Video: Chris Brown (With You)

Best Female Video: Britney Spears (Piece of Me)

PDA 2: Concert For a Cause

The scholars had their concert-for-a-cause yesterday night where they opened the show with a little upbeat song. It's so lame for an opening, the song should have been more fast and more dance-able.

Liezel was okay during her solo but there's something about her that isn't positive. I don't know what but she always looks gloomy even with a smile.

Miguel was hilarious I was laughing all throughout his performance of Robi Williams' Rock DJ. He's so big on stage and his dancing was so awkward the number reminded me of high school intermission songs in between PTA meetings. It was a trying-hard act for him tonight. But I understand he was doing it to please the mentors and judges and for them to say that he "enjoyed" the performance. Yea he seemed to have enjoyed it because he forced himself to do so. A is for awkwardness, really.

Cris's vocal technique has really improved, though, but why do I have this feeling that she mumbles her words while singing? Or is it just me?

Van had a good song but he has the same dance moves as when I first saw him dancing on stage months ago. His song, though, was fit for his vocals and he didn't look awkward dancing. I know he has the highest voice range among the boys but his voice cracked on high notes countless times last night.

Laarni gave the best performance with Lani Misalucha's Waray-Waray. She was so cool on stage getting into character of the tough woman behind the song. She missed a few lyrics in the middle but it didn't do much to blemish her performance. The girl can really pull through any genre of songs she is given to sing. She had proven that from the diva song Natural Woman to the novelty song 'Di Ko Kayang Tanggapin and to the rock song Bohemian Rhapsody and now the character singing of Waray-Waray.

Bugoy seemed to have lots of air and energy during the first half of the song but faltered towards the end. He still did a good job, though.

A partial percentage of the scholars' text votes was also shown on television, although without the scholars' names. They used Scholar A to Scholar F instead. The percentage is quite amusing, though. The big difference among the votes shows obvious facts: (1) that one of the scholars has a very big following and that majority of the Filipinos have become a fan; (2) the rest of the minority are torn only between the other two scholars; (3) the family, relatives and friends of the remaining three scholars are the only ones voting for them; (4) the family of one of those who belong to the bottom three are spending big time to make their scholar win or at least not kulelat.

Partial results:
Scholar A: 20.27%
Scholar B: 38.98%
Scholar C: 11.28%
Scholar D: 20.18%
Scholar E: 3.15%
Scholar F: 6.15%

Who do you think is Scholar B? I already have my guess. I'm just not sure of my C and D scholar. My Scholar C can take the place of my Scholar D and vice versa.

Britney's Mum Tells All on Her Daughter

Troubled Britney Spears began boozing aged 13, lost her virginity at 14, then started taking drugs at 15, according to a shocking tell-all book by her mum.

Wild child Britney allegedly first hit the bottle after joining Disney’s squeaky-clean Mickey Mouse Club.

Mum Lynne claims 14-year-old Britney then had sex with an 18-year-old high school footballer soon after she quit the TV show.

And she had her first taste of drugs at 15 when she went to Los Angeles to record her debut album Baby One More Time.

The sensational revelations were leaked last night ahead of publication of Lynne’s memoir, titled Through the Storm.

Lynne, 53, tells how she regrets handing over control of Britney’s career to managers and allowing her daughter to be promoted as a sex object in raunchy videos at such a young age.

She believes Britney’s wild behaviour as a teenage star is the root of her current problems.

Britney, now 26, has twice been admitted to a hospital psychiatric ward this year.

After the Mickey Mouse Club, Britney spent a year at high school in her home town of Kentwood, Louisiana, where she is said to have lost her virginity at the home of her footballer boyfriend.

As Britney later pursued her pop career, Lynne let her 16-year-old daughter sleep with teen sweetheart Justin Timberlake, despite claiming she was a virgin.

A source said: “Lynne thought Britney was in love and Justin was good for her.”

Lynne’s book reportedly tells of her horror when Britney, still just 16, was caught with cocaine and cannabis on a private jet.

The book, out on September 16, is set to deepen the rift between Britney and Lynne.

They have been estranged since Britney’s marriage to Kevin Federline broke down in 2006, sending the star off the rails.

K-Fed, 30, has custody of the couple’s toddler sons, and Britney’s dad has taken legal control of her life while she recovers from her psychiatric problems.

Ramielle Malubay in Concert

Ramielle Malubay, the Filipino-American singer who made it to the Top 12 of American Idol 7, is going to have a concert in the Philippines with Ogie Alcasid. Ogie Sings with the Idols is going to be held on December 20 and 21 at the Aliw Theater. Pinoy Idol winner Gretchen Espina and semi-finalist Robby Navarro are also two of the guests.

Some reports say that Danny Noriega, AI7 Top 24 and Ramielle's BFF, will also visit the Philippines with the 4'11" singer to also be part of the concert.

The two are actually rumored not to be BFF's anymore but Ramiele denied it in her interview with accesshollywood. She said, "That is so not true. He is kind of busy right now and I am busy as well. I talk to him whenever I get the chance. We will text every once in awhile but it’s not like all the time like it used to be. We are going to the Philippines together in December. Madonna's Sticky and Sweet Tour Staff Threatening to Walk Out

Some of the 250 staff of Madonna's Sticky and Sweet tour are threatening to walk out after being forced to stay in cheap hotels and take cheap flights. They are furious at Madonna who stayed in a $22,000-a-night castle, Chateau Saint Jeannet, after her show in Nice, France and who flew in by private jet to the castle with her family - husband Guy Ritchie (39), daughter Lourdes (11) and two sons Rocco (8) and David (2).

Madonna also made demands like a helicopter to fly her back to the castle after the show. The fifty-year-old singer was also reported to keep a team of 12 staff which includes six beauticians, a personal chef and chiropractor.

The Sticky and Sweet tour continues, though, despite the threats from her crew.

Ploning, Philippines' Official Entry to the 2009 Oscars

A good movie, even if it didn't do well in the box-office simply because a big movie outfit got the same playdate for its own mushy one, will always be remembered and continually get attention.

Judy Ann Santos's Ploning is now the official entry of the Philippines to the 2009 Oscars.

It is indeed a happy moment for the people behind Ploning. For one, the movie's producer Jourdan Sebastian wrote in his blog: Today I just found out that Ploning is the official Philippine Entry to the 2009 Academy Awards. Am I saying we are going to get nominated to the most prestigious film award giving body in the world? Nope, I'm saying we are going to win Best Foreign Film!!! Yahoo!!! Libre mangarap at maniwala!!!

The committee (headed by Eddie Romero) tasked to select the country's entry only had six titles to choose from, five of which are indie films (Tribu, Pisay, Endo, Serbis and Ploning). Sharon Cuneta's Caregiver completed the list. The committee battled between Ploning and Caregiver, but eventually favored the Judy Ann Santos starrer.
