88th Academy Awards Winners Revealed - Leonardo DiCaprio wins first Oscar trophy

Leonardo DiCaprio won his first Oscar trophy on Sunday night, February 28, 2015, during the 88th Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. He won for his performance in "The Revenant" as the American fur trapper Hugh Glass who is famous for surviving a grizzly bear mauling.

This was Leonardo's fourth best actor nomination after his respective roles in "The Aviator" (2005), "Blood Diamond" (2007), and "The Wolf of Wall Street" (2014).

"The Revenant" also won two other Oscars for directing (Alejandro Iñárritu) and cinematography (Emmanuel Lubezki).
