Pinoy Idol

I'm sure many of us are waiting for Pinoy Idol. I was somehow thankful that it moved from ABC 5 to GMA 7. It will get much more attention in the latter, really. And who better host the show than Raymond Gutierrez? He's one of the few local celebrity hosts who knows what he's doing. Fluent, articulate, pleasant to look at, and not "baduy". Paolo Bediones (accdg to inquirer.net) didn't make it as host of the show due to age restrictions. Fremantle, Idol's franchise holder, wants the host to be 30 below. Paolo Bediones is already 33. But had Paolo been 30, Raymond Gutierrez is still the better choice. Raymond (like Ryan Seacrest) is more... glamorous.

Also, Regine Velasquez wasn't able to make it as host of Pinoy Idol. Is that the reason why she's leaving GMA? (This is just my own opinion) She doesn't have Pinoy Pop Superstar and Celebrity Duets to host anymore... Is it like she's expecting GMA to put her as host of Pinoy Idol? Well, Fremantle (again) says that singers are "not even considered for the job, so as not to take attention away from the contestants." And for goodness' sake, Regine V can't even host! All she does is stand on stage with a microphone, and read the idiot boards. I'm a big fan of Regine but please, let the singers do the singing, and the hosts do the hosting.

Judges include Ogie Alcasid, Jolina Magdangal and Wyngard Tracy. Pinoy Idol premieres April 5, 2008, Saturday.

Kapitan Boom!

Jon Avila (formerly Jon Mullaly) of the PBB Celebrity Edition 2 is gonna be Kapitan Boom on the show with the same title. His hunky appeal and Caucasian looks have caught much attention in the local showbiz even before the PBB stint. How can you ignore this pic, anyway?
He would be getting his much deserved attention for sure, with more focus on his buffed bod rather than his acting. Well, that is why he is Kapitan Boom. All covered but all curves visible. And ooh, look at the curves.

New Dance Steps

There's a new dance for the old theme song of PBB Teen choreographed by Jolas, the tall teen from Bulacan. They are actually "partnered" since there are still 7 boys and 7 girls. I wonder how the dance would be if a boy/girl got evicted. Surely someone will dance without a partner. Anyway, Nan from Davao is so stringy I wonder if they kept him starved back in Davao. On the other hand, I like Josef's tummy. Is that shaved? Well it looked like shaved on the Uber episode this afternoon.

My dear Priscilla is having a crush on Ejay. Priscilla, btw, should be the one with the "bubbly" title - The Bubbly Deaf Girl (perhaps). Bubbly shouldn't have been Jieriel's title. I didn't see any "bubbly-ness" in her "Kilalanin Natin si Jieriel" video. Lots of drama, actually.

Robi, The True Blue Atenean

This boy is so clean cut he's too good to be true. He's the type that mothers would like their sons to be, or the type of boy moms would like to have for their daughters. I don't think he has shown something aside from his cute face, though. We've yet to watch out for this young lad.

Just a mention of the surname will make you interested. No wonder Josef is so mestizo. This housemate will most likely have the most successful showbiz career after their PBB stint. He is so blessed in the genes aspect. Acting talent? We've yet to discover. But then again, showbiz is in his blood. Should we even doubt his potentials? I bet he's a Gerald Anderson in the making.
