'Himig Handog' calls for 2016 entries
The hunt is on again for the next OPM pop hit as the country’s biggest songwriting competition in the country, “Himig Handog Pinoy Pop (P-POP) Love Songs” calls for original compositions from professional and budding Filipino composers around the globe.
Professional and amateur Filipino songwriters (Filipino citizens or individuals of Filipino descent) are welcome to send in their original love songs online via the official website of the competition, himighandog.abs-cbn.com until July 31.

Himig Handog 2014 winner is 'Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako'
"Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako," an original Filipino love song written by Edwin Marollano and interpreted by KZ Tandingan emerged grand prize winner at the “Himig Handog Pinoy Pop (P-Pop) Love Songs 2014″ held at the Araneta Coliseum on Sunday, September 28.
Marollano bested 14 other songwriter-finalists to win the P1-million cash prize and a trophy designed by renowned sculptor Michael Cacnio. KZ, meanwhile, bagged the ABS-CBN.com Favorite Interpreter Award.

'Himig Handog' finals night set this Sunday
The finals night of the country’s biggest multimedia songwriting competition, “Himig Handog Pinoy Pop (P-Pop) Love Songs 2014,” will happen this Sunday (September 28) at the Araneta Coliseum. Kapamilya stars Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Robi Domingo, and Alex Gonzaga will host the event.
In the culmination of the latest edition of “Himig Handog,” the top 15 finalist songs, written by a mix of veteran and amateur Filipino composers, will be performed live by some of the brightest recording stars in the country.

Aside from the “Himig Handog P-Pop Love Songs” CD, the 15 song finalists are also featured in music videos created by the students from some of the country’s most prestigious universities, including University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, Ateneo De Manila University, DLSU-College of Saint Benilde, Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Far Eastern University, Adamson University, University of the East, San Beda College-Alabang, San Sebastian College, Mapua Institute of Technology, MINT (Meridian International) College, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, St. Paul University, and Miriam College.
