Benedict Yu of Malaysia was named Mister National Universe 2023, succeeding last year's winner, Viet Hoang of Vietnam.
Benedict Yu, 28, is a doctor at My Clinic Plus in Kota Kinabalu.
He studied MBBS in Manipal, India and also has a Diploma in Men's Health from Australia.
In 2021, he was also declared Gentleman of the World Malaysia in a special edition of Bachelor of Malaysia.
During Mister National Universe 2023, he bested 21 other candidates including heavy favorites like England's Marcus Charlie Bishop who was named Mister National World 2023; and Thailand's Kritti Nampradit who was named Mister National Globe 2023.
Meanwhile, Philippines' Michael Ver Comaling won the Mister National Earth 2023 title, and Latvia's Tishkin Vladiislav was Mister National Intercontinental 2023.
Top 10 also had contestants from Pakistan, Russia, Japan, Vietnam and Ukraine.
