A magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit Batangas on Saturday, August 11, 2017.
Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) recorded the earthquake at exactly 1:28 PM with epicenter located 16 kilometers (km) southwest of Nasugbu.
The quake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 160 km.
The earthquake was felt in the following areas:
- Intensity IV - Calapan, Mindoro; Subic, Zambales; Rosario, Cavite; Manila City; Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro
- Intensity III - Pateros City; Quezon City; Makati City; Malolos, Bulacan; Cainta, Rizal; Calamba, Laguna
- Intensity II - Magalang, Pampanga; Tanauan City, Batangas
- Intensity I - Talisay, Batangas
Instrumental Intensities:
- Intensity III - Calumpit, San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Tagaytay City
- Intensity II - Lucban, Quezon
According to the Phivolcs bulletin, aftershocks are expected to occur.
