SP: Celebrity Showdown’s Pilot is the Most Watched

logo Chika Minute reports that the pilot episode of Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown was the most viewed television program in the Philippines last night. It was so successful that it ranked 2nd in Twitter’s trending topics, higher than the Emmys which was at number 4 that time.

The celebrity castaways with the host, Richard Gutierrez, watched the pilot episode together last night. They were laughing and cheering while watching, obviously so excited and happy with the product of their work. Richard even said “everything that we worked hard for comes down to this point.”

As to what the Filipinos can expect in the coming days, Ahron Villena said, “mas magiging maintriga, mas aabangan talaga ng mga televiewers.”

Another James, James Preston (The Gates), plays the role of James Dean in this biopic. It also stars Dan Glenn, Dalilah Rain, and Edward Singletary, Jr.

Directed by Matthew Mishory, Joshua Tree, 1951: A Portrait of James Dean is set for release next year.

Dancing with the Stars Season 11 Cast

ABC has announced its lineup of celebs for the 11th season of Dancing with the Stars.

I don’t really find it interesting as a whole, but I’d love to see Michael Bolton dance for sure. Kurt Warner will surely be a delight to see, too, as well as Audrina Patridge and Brandy. But David Hasselhoff and Bristol Palin?

Anyway, here’s a complete list of Dancing with the Stars Season 11 Cast:

  • David Hasselhoff
  • Michael “The Situation” Sorrentino
  • NFL star Kurt Warner
  • Michael Bolton
  • Bristol Palin
  • Jennifer Grey
  • Florence Henderson
  • Audrina Patridge
  • Former Los Angeles Laker Rick Fox
  • Brandy
  • Margaret Cho
  • Kyle Massey

SPCS E01: Ian’s Name Tag

36 days, 18 castaways…

Survivor Philippines’ celebrity contestants are kidnapped from  a press conference by the locals which signaled the start of the competition. They were then brought to Ranong in the southern part of Thailand where they will camp and compete for the grand prize of 3 million pesos.

Ranong is considered as the wettest part of the region because of typhoons that constantly hit the area. It is also known for its scorpions, king cobras, and “killer” mosquitoes.

The castaways meet this season’s host, Richard Gutierrez, in Ranong where he explains the mechanics of the game. Before he let the celebrities take on their first task of finding the base camp and their name tags along the way, he first burns the castaways’ luggage in front of them. Akihiro Sato seems to be the most affected, and does this mean he has great attachment to material things?

The celebrity castaways are then sent to trek through the mangrove to their camp. Richard asks who wants to hold the map and Buhawi Meneses volunteered. The host also gives him a flint for their fire.

Working as one team, a first in Survivor Philippines because the first two seasons started with the castaways being divided into two, they helped one another in looking for their name tags along the way. Ian Batherson, though, finds his name tag but drops it. They can’t go to the camp site without everyone’s name tags, but they have to hurry because if they don’t reach the camp site before dark, they won’t be able to get their supplies (read: rubber shoes and little pieces of clothing).

Aside from Ian’s lost tag, others just get the name tags as they see them without noting where they got it. The trees where the name tags are attached to are an important part of the task because it will somehow point them to their next destination.

Anyway, Doc Ferds Recio is able to find Ian’s name tag so they are able to proceed to their camp site where they start building a temporary shelter. Buhawi and Ferds initiate the shelter-making where they just gather leaves of trees and stuff and just throw them over the branches of a tree to make an improvised roof. Jon Hall doesn’t approve of how his fellow celebrity castaways do it, but he is not saying anything because he doesn’t want to be the leader.

Ferds talks about how other castaways just sit and talk while they are busy with stuff. Aubrey Miles calls Myka Flores ignorant during a confessional because Myka keeps on talking while they are making fire. Karen delos Reyes, on the other hand, is an interesting character. With the way she talks which is mataray and funny at the same time, I’m sure this season of Survivor Philippines will be fun. That is, until she gets the boot.

We haven’t seen Princess Snell do anything but sit and talk. I don’t know if she was edited out so much but I guess that’s just really her.

It’s quite interesting that Jon Hall and Aubrey Miles are ex-lovers, and Jon’s current flame Michelle Madrigal is also a castaway.

In the jeepneys on their way to the location, Jon and Aubrey are in the same ride. Kinda awkward but being celebrities, they know how to play it well. Michelle, on the other hand, is in a separate jeepney with Ian and Mico.

A teaser of tomorrow’s episode shows Ervic Vijandre crying while telling a sad story, Pretty Trizsa is crying as well because of hunger, Princess saying she hasn’t been that tired in her life, Ian angrily shouting Akihiro’s name, Michelle Madrigal nagging at Jon Hall (?), Pretty Trizsa telling Ian that he’s sweet, a castaway in a stretcher, etc.

Don’t forget to watch tomorrow’s episode right after 24 Oras.

Who Will Be the First Celebrity Survivor? Chokoleit Gives Clues

The pilot episode of Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown was quite a success it even peaked at number 2 in Twitter’s trending topics.

It’s such a sad thing, though, that as early as the reality show’s first episode, spoilers have started coming out. Take the comedian Chokoleit for example, he posted several messages in his Twitter account hinting that the winner for this season is Moi Marcampo, who is (was?) Piolo Pascual’s personal assistant.

Incidentally, Piolo stars in ABS-CBN’s teleserye Noah, which airs at the same timeslot as Survivor.

Now here’s another tweet from Chokoleit that gives a clue that even the dumbest man alive would guess:

Charice – Please Don’t Stop the Music

Even if Charice wasn’t able to keep up with the beat during the first few stanzas, it wasn’t really noticeable and she showed how professional she was with how she just kept on singing as if there’s nothing wrong. She was able to keep up with the beat sometime during the chorus, though. This is an old video of her, one of her first few performances in the U.S. She’s so cute and it’s not really bad at all. I’m sure it happens to many singers.

Jon Hall Hopes to Return to Showbiz

jon hall

Jon Hall wishes to make a comeback to showbiz via his stint in the third season of Survivor Philippines. He says he left showbiz because he doesn’t like the roles that was given to him by his previous management. His roles, according to him, had no substance. He just took his shirt off and it’s done.

He doesn’t mind taking his shirt off again, though. He’s not changing the image, he says. Just the roles that he takes.

Hopefully, Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown will again open doors and opportunities for Jon Hall.

Congratulations, Venus Raj!

Our very own representative to the Miss Universe 2010, Venus Raj, has won us a place in the top 5 of the most prestigious beauty pageant on earth.

Venus Raj, who was almost dethroned of her crown as Bb. Pilipinas-Universe, bagged 4th runner-up in the pageant held in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was a crowd favorite together with the Jamaican representative who won 1st runner-up.

Many, though, thinks that Venus Raj could have taken home the crown if not for her answer in the Top 5 Q&A, where the actor William Baldwin threw her the question of what was one big mistake she have made in her life and what did she do to make it right.

Watch her answer below:

Well as for me, she had done her best and had put the Philippines in good light after that hostage drama at the Quirino Grandstand last night.

Venus Raj did a fantastic job and she deserves to be honored. We don’t always land in the Top 5, do we?

Venus Raj, we are so proud of you!

Charice on German Mags GOgirl and HEY!

Charice is featured on two German magazines GOgirl and HEY! where she talks about her family, her rise to fame, how being famous has changed her life, and how she feels about being compared to Justin Bieber.

Interview:

Go Girl: Did you always want to be a singer?

Charice: I actually wanted to be a dancer after I´ve seen a video of Michael Jackson. But my mother was a singer in a band and I listened to her at the rehearsals. I looked at everything. The first time she heard me sing, at age of four, she was impressed and she gave me voice lessons.

Go Girl: Is it true that you have supported your family through your performances in singing competitions?

Charice: Yes, sort of. I’ve certainly been through a hundred singing contests in the Philippines. This has really given me confidence and helped my family financially. Then I participated in a TV show. I did not win, but fortunately, someone posted a video of the show on YouTube.

Go Girl: You have been invited to many talk shows, released your music (CD), and now your first international album. Did your life change a lot since you became a famous star?

Charice: It has extremely changed. In America, everyone knows my voice and my songs. In the Philippines, I can´t be in a shopping center for ten minutes, a mass of people will be there already. Without my bodyguards they would probably run me to the ground. But fortunately I am small. This is an advantage, I dive off easy (laughs). But I’m living my dream!

Go Girl: With your success on the Internet you are often compared to Justin Bieber. What do you think about it?

Charice: Really? This is a great compliment! Justin is cool – we were finally together in a TV show and he is really nice.

Oops! Embarrassing Moments!

Totally Voiceless!—”I sang Whitney Houston´s power ballad in a casting show. I wanted to win and to sing just perfect. But at the end of the song, my voice failed. My lips continued to move, but without sound. The jury chose me to the next round, but only because they thought the microphone didn´t work and they therefore can not hear me. Really embarrassing, but I still had luck!”

She is just 18 years old, but her voice convinced even the music professionals: Charice had already made herself a name before she got a record deal. Soon her single “Pyramid” will be released, the debut album “Charice” follows in September. Those who likes R & B and Soul, will be well-seved with Charice’s songs.

Kris Gives James Visitation Rights to their Kid

Ex-husband and wife Kris Aquino and James Yap were both at the Makati RTC earlier today in connection with the visitation rights to their kid that James was asking. Kris arrived with her older sisters who support her all the way.

At the end of the talk, the two camps agreed to James visiting Baby James twice a week and the kid sleeping at his dad's house once a week. Kris's camp, though, refused James's request to have the kid visit his paternal grandparents in Negros once in a while.

Charice on MTV.com

Charice has new pics featured on MTV.com. Seems like she's being made to wear pink lately. Isn't she also wearing pink at Macy's End of Summer Blow Out?

I think the color makes her look younger and girlie; a typical teen (to promote her Glee role?).

Can't wait for September to see her on the new season of Glee. Meanwhile, check her other MTV pics below.
