Tropical Storm "MINA" intensifies with maximum winds of 85 kilometers per hour but it is almost stationary since this morning in its location at 400 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.
It is being expected to elevate in a typhoon category on Friday with maximum sustained winds of 118 kph.
Instead of the earlier reported Saturday, "MINA" is now expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday, August 29.
"MINA" remains stationary in its position because of Tropical Depression 97W which is outside the PAR. The two are creating a Fujiwhara effect, where two tropical storms/hurricanes are rotating around a common center.
Tropical Depression 97W isn't expected to enter the PAR but it is being closely monitored. It will be called Nonoy if ever it gets inside the PAR.
Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are still going to experience rainshowers caused by the southwest monsoon.
